Time for a CHANGE Ashe Football Coach

I have to laugh at that comment Rainbow. That was going on when there were 3 high schools. It isn't anything new at all.

That;s what happens when you take 3 small high schools and combine them into one big one (especially without the parents approval). You only get a football team of rich kids or school employee's kids that are ever put on the team and the "real talent" that is hidden in the other children is not realized. Another outcome of the big wigs in Ashe making all the decisions and not listening to the parents. Also, the 3 strike rule for drug use should be thrown out, if you test positive the first time, you should not be able to play sports for the entire year.

There are other types of activities that kids can get the same benefits of football without beating their brains out. Its an antiquated sport and people are starting to realize there are absolutely zero benefit to placing their kids at risk.

Do you know what an Op-Ed is? No facts in it.

Yep. Scouting took a serious hit in Ashe with the knee jerk reaction from the baptist churches. The ones left are mostly Methodist sponsored. What people fail to realize, scouts is a faith based organization. They require members to acknowledge a higher being. But BSA takes no preference to what god or religion. There are Muslim based troops for example.

Thats just one of the reasons I despise a baptist church. I know of several that just threw the kids out for what the national organization did.

Boy Scout troops are chartered through local sponsoring organizations, like churches and fire departments. Those organizations are required to set up a scout committee to oversee the charter. That committee has to approve all leaders for the troop. That committee can deny any leaders for any reason they wish. So if you don't want your kids in a Boy Scout troop with gay leaders, then find a charter organization that agrees with your opinions.

They are mingling with gays now in high school. And now some snow flake transgender clowns. So whats the difference?

And what recent changes would that be?

I wouldn't let em join the Boy Scouts not with recent changes in the scouting organization.

They can learn more on how to work together in the Boy scouts.

I would disagree, sports can teach life skills with the right coach. Kids can learn to work together to achieve a goal. Teams that rely on 1 player or 2 players, typically fall apart if either of those is injured, sick or otherwise not present. Successful teams make maximum use of all players, and are not afraid to tell players that someone else is better at a position and make changes.

I've not heard good things about the current one. Also even with Ashe being bigger than West Caldwell we aren't getting enough applicants to even field separate offensive and defensive teams like West Caldwell.

We have a quarterback that has trouble seeing over the offensive line, and can only do run the ball or short passes, he has no deep threat and the others schools know that. He'll never be a starting quarterback in college or pros. There are some other players who do have enough talent to play college ball, whether they can be pro or not I don't know.

I think the Panthers made stupid cuts Saturday....

Who cares? Football serves the students no purpose after graduation. Kill the whole program and put the money in the library budget.

Maybe they will fire him after he loses to Alleghany in a couple of weeks. Maybe then people will wake up and see that he doesn't have a clue of how to coach a football team.

We pay them a lot more than we used to. I know Coach Thompson gets mad when he hears how much they are making these days considering how little he was paid back in the day. However I'm not certain of the amount. Shame the Jefferson Post backed off publishing the school employees wages.

I can only recalls one coach getting fired. That would be Coach Love. Ashe Central - around 1976. He was caught sticking his penis in several of the married teachers and cheerleaders.

Someone tell me how much we pay the coaches, pay for concessions, pay for the lights, pay for the upkeep of the field, pay for the stands, pay for the public address system, pay the refs, pay for the land for the field, then tell me its worth it when one is killed or maimed. They can build character cutting firewood for the needy.

I love college and pro football. It dominates my weekends during the fall. But look at all these former players, of which there are many, a lot of whom are under 50, suffering from CTE, ALS, early onset dementia, and all sorts of other degenerative, incurable neurological disorders. That's no coincidence. You don't see that in other sports, maybe hockey, but not as pronounced. Like boxing, as long as it's on TV I'll watch, but if my kid ever asked what sport he should play, I'd go grab a baseball or soccer ball.
