Hiking, there isn't a NC teachers union. The source that Ford linked is a right wing agenda driven website posing as a real media outlet. There is the NC Association of Educators. They are more of a Trade Organization like the Realtors Association of Home Builders Association. I do believe it's illegal in N.C. for state employees to unionize. The NCAE also has a lobbyist branch. This is another example of why I say people against lobbyists don't understand what would happen if they got rid of lobbyists. I have my criticisms of teachers, but the NCAE is a way they can get the legislature to hear their voice. However, it's not a union. So it's an optional choice for teachers to join and they can't strike, both unlike in NY where the union threatened to strike and forced the government to bend to their will instead of considering what was really best for society.

Hiker, I do not hate anyone or anything, hate is a negative emotion which usually hurts the hater more than the hated. However, I do deeply despise hypochristians in which Ashe County is awash. Pseudo Christians always seem to respond to any criticism of their hypocrisy by accusing their critics of hating them when in fact the criticism is aimed at the hypocrisy.

Unions are not illegal in NC. It's illegal to force anyone to join one. But there are several unions in the state. There is a teamsters headquarters in greensboro right off 40. The big telephone companies are unionized, or at least used to be. And UPS and FedEx employees can join unions.

I would like to see proof of Simmons being for Dan Forrest, because she voted for the Dems in the primary, and if you look at the demands of the teacher's union in NC you would see that the Dems are all about indoctrination of students. I don't want my grandchildren taught about BLM and all that BS.

Fins I am betting no one knows the teachers are off on every Friday and only teaching 4 days a week. They clean the schools on Friday. I am betting there is nothing done that is not usually done anyway as far as the cleaning.

Endorsement from teachers is hardly a quality selling point.
