What is the State looking for in this case?

From the APT:

JEFFERSON " Jessie R. Hubbard’s first day in Ashe County District Court was put off again on Sept. 27, as his case was continued to Nov. 15. Hubbard is charged with the Aug. 19 murder of Diane Goss, as well as four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.

Hubbard’s attorney, Jak Reeves, said that the state of North Carolina is still conducting its investigation into the matter, and they won’t start the trial before the investigation is done. Reeves added that Hubbard may be indicted by a Grand Jury on Nov. 13, two days before his next district court date.

Hubbard’s original first appearance was set to be on Sept. 6, but was pushed back when it was revealed that the state was beginning to look into the case.
