I actually was involved in the PRIVATE CLUB- situation when I was with the NCGA. Yes that is how the River House, the Landing and others got their licenses in the beginning-hence the tennis court at the River House. it was Rep. Rex Baker who handled it for the constituents here in Ashe. Was around 1994-96 or so.

I did some research and WJ annexed 181 acres off Mulatto Rd right where they are. So they are already in the town of WJ. Now it makes sense. They probably want a zoning change for 21 acres.

Actually, it may be that they don't charge for drinks. Ticket price includes the show and then all food and beverages are included. I'll have to check. My times have always been completely comped anyway.

How did they get a liquor license in the county? They are not close enough to the parkway and Mulatto Mt. rd. is not a scenic byway.

I don't think the infrastructure requirement is in effect when a property owner petitions annexation. Forced annexation, yes

Sounds like some money is being thrown around town. There was talk last night about annexing in 21 acres outside of town on Mulatto Rd.
