Master Dulcimer Player
Ken Kolodner at 7:30pm. Ken Kolodner has been part of the rebirth of the hammered dulcimer in the United States and is recognized as one of todays most accomplished, musical hammered dulcimer artists. He has even invited local musicians Michael Bell, Steve and Ruth Smith to perform a few selections during the concert. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 students at the Ashe Arts Center or by phone at 336-846-ARTS.

Hoot'Nanny!
Calling all kids! It's a Summer Hoot'Nanny! Come out and have some fun from 12noon-5pm at the Buckeye Recreation Center! Enjoy a day of wildlife fun and adventure for kids of all ages. Best of all, the festival benefits Genesis Wildlife Sanctuary! Genesis is a non-profit 501(c)(3) wildlife rehabilitation hospital and education center on Beech Mountain. The Hoot'Nanny will include: Live music from the Corklickers, A wildlife gameshow for kids ages 6-15, a petting zoo, birdhouse building tent, wildlife demonstrations, facepainting, door prizes, raffle, yummy food & fun! In case of rain we will move the festivities inside the gymnasium so come rain or shine. Tickets are $5.00 for kids and $10.00 for adults.

Relay for Life of Ashe County presents "Hymns of Hope" from 6:00 - 8:30 PM. Admission is $10 for Adults and children 10 & under $4. Ashe County groups: Heritage and the Roten/Arnold Family will be featured as well as "For His Glory" from Alleghany county. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

The One That Got Away and Other Lies
Head to downtown West Jefferson at 1pm for a rip roarin’ good time when Ashe County Library and Ashe Arts Council present "The One That Got Away and Other Lies" featuring well-known storyteller Orville Hicks and other area "liars." This adult event kicks off as Ashe County begins reading "The Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions" by Daniel Wallace in preparation for this year’s 'On The Same Page' literary festival. There will be door prizes from RiverGirl Fishing Co, Friends of the Library and others. The public is invited to all this free fun downstairs at the library.
