West Jefferson gets all of its water from wells.

Keep in mind that Boone has a water board that handles the bulk of the water related work and then reports to the town council for approval. But this board also controls some of the info that gets to the council members. The Boone water board had a couple sneaky and underhanded members that will do whatever it takes to get their way. I think mason has been mislead by certain individuals to get her to tow the right line.

Boone would benefit from Mason going back to Chapel Hill.

I think the first meeting in December is when Poe gets to go. As far as I am concerned Gerry is already gone.
I find it disturbing that Mason and her buddies are playing the dumb card with our mouth breathers. However, the dumb card wont fly with us.

"I was unaware they felt that way," Mason said. "We (town of Boone) may have to reach out and reconnect with the Ashe County commissioners. I'll talk with anyone about this issue."
I like her last comment that's funny where were they last time when Ashe commissioners were seeking info. They didn't want to talk then and that is what led to their permit being revoked. Its looks like we may have found Boones equal to our commissioner Poe who has a problem with the facts.
By the way when is it that Poe hits the curb.

Ms Mason would not be alone in wanting control of the water.

Mason just wants to prevent anyone else from having access to the water supply without going through the Boone Town Council.
Withdrawal is not the reason for the impairment, the reason for the impairment is that the river flows through a large town with a lot of runoff from streets and construction.
Everyone making scientifically invalid statements ought to be tarred and feathered. Ideally what should happen is that Ashe County would own the intake near Twin Bridges on 221 and sell raw water to Boone.

They can build some lakes in some hollows and have all the water they need. We all see the open land from Deep Gap to Boone.

I guess mason wants to make sure there's plenty of water for that brewery that her and her husband just opened in Boone. I believe it takes four gallons of water to make one gallon of beer

There isn't any evidence. Maybe they can throw some of their tax dollars at some engineer to make that statement, but it still won't be factual.

Did anyone notice how they just pulled the statement out of the air about drilling wells and that would lower the water table, lowering the river? Where is the evidence in that statement?

And here we thought that we had a lock on the Mouth Breather way of conducting business on behalf of the citizens. She must have been asleep for the past couple years.
