The sales were on Wednesdays in west Jefferson. Across from hart power equipment. I always went by after school to get a piece of pie at the restaraunt. She made extras and at three she would sell me some for a quarter. Sometimes they had goats, sheep or ponies.

I remember when I was a kid, my grand pappy took me and my cousin to the sale. We got bored watching the auction and went to the back and walked along the cat walk looking at the cows. Some other obnoxious kid kept running back and forth by us with a pack of peanut m&ms in his hand. About the forth time he went by, my cousin tripped him. Fat boy went down, and M&Ms went everywhere. We laughed our ***es off. Guess we were lucky he didn't slide under the rail and land in one of the pens.

We will miss the cows. Who will load the trees there? They have been doing allot of grading, drainage with pipes, etc to get it ready.

Anyone know what they are building at the cattle market on #163? Looks like a road or race track of some kind being built with gravel, pipes, etc. where the cattle would be held in the fall for market.

No cattle there now, just big construction trucks.
