My son has had her as a teacher and I have to say she was one of his favorite teachers. From everything I've seen, she does a great job and has made Ashe County proud.

They should can the teacher of the year award as its the most unfair practice the clowns from Raleigh do. If they have time to run around and pat teachers on the back then we need to trim some jobs in Raleigh. Take the money and give the crying b****es a raise.

I think its a slap in the face of the rest of the teachers across the state. How can you fairly pick a teacher of the year? You cant. Furthermore gratuities are against the law in NC as teachers are state workers and this practice should be stopped.

She received a one time cash award of $7,500. Yes it says she got a $11,000 technology package or whatever but that's for class room use; and a $1,600 mobile device. If you want to be picky about it, $9,100 for herself. BUT the only cash she received is $7,500.
