Eustace needs to do like Marvin John Heemeyer and build himself a KILL DOZER and go to town.

He charges a lot of money for the camps and classes. I grew up doing all the things he does and am not all that impressed with his skills. As for the land beside his selling for a lot that is just what I heard around Boone.

Well, he has had the place since at least 1987. That's 25 years. Over double that standard ten. If he is skipping the taxes, I would be surprised that he started doing so in just the last couple of years.

Magic number for a tax seizure is 10 years, it could be done sooner though. When the tax boys ever get out there I see the value going up further. He will have a legitimate complaint given the buildings and land have been rendered useless by the county.

Stupid iPhone keyboard...

That's usually they have no guilty feelings over seizing a property for back taxes. I would be surprised if that was more than a rumor.

Usually watauga has no guilty feel

This could be completely false, I always heard that he was a trust fund baby and he inherited that land. And refused to pay taxes on it. My hubby made me set through a boring episode of the mountain men. He rode into Boone on 321 to the courthouse on horseback.

Conway owns 3 pages of lots and 2 larger tracts nothing that will add up to 1000 acres. More like 300. Like I thought the tax boys have not been out there either he has one building on all these tracts and lots.

He comes across as a borderline anarchist/seperatist. Now you all know I support anti-establishment causes. But some restrictions are required to protect his naive idiot customers from his self proclaimed revolution that he profits from.

Sounds like conway wants to write his own rules much like andy. He has shown how dumb/crazy he is with his meetings.

There was book written about this man. "the Last American Man" by Elizabeth Gilbert. An interesting guy, misunderstood by lots. And maybe just "odd" enough to be considered nuts but not really nuts enough to be nuts. I read the book and enjoyed it. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have building permits though. And inspections for the camp operation.

"the land beside his selling for millions of dollars" That is funny.

The land above his sold for less than $450,000 for 50 acres with it all subdivided, roads built, power and telephone completed. LifeStore Bank had the paper on it.

Maybe it has something to do with the land beside his selling for millions of dollars and it was a concerned neighbor that placed the call.

Dog, I was thinking watauga had some similar cases, but I may be confused with other counties.

Btw, if you ever want an experience that will leave you speechless, go over to Johnson County in TN and see how it all works.

I have never heard anything about the previous individuals causing any problems I'm not saying it didn't happen just that I hadn't heard about it. I know both of the ones that use to work in Ashe since I was a little boy and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about them.

There are some counties that have had to buy a property and home from the owner because the health department was so slack the lot would not perk and allowed the home anyway. This was back in the day doublewides were being set up daily and pressure was put on them.

You are correct. And I've heard he same story countless times about soil scientists looking at lots at not having a clue why they were needed.

However, if memory serves, and you can probably correct any errors I may have, I believe the previous individuals in Andy's position had a habit of getting slack on the job and it caused some fallout on the department. While the inspector can't be sued, the state and department can for their errors. For some reason I think that they approved some things that failed and caused people major problems and expenses.

Personally, I have always been lucky and only had to deal with Jeff over there.

Fins that just proves how stuipd andy is since under state law inspectors are immune from law suits. I did the grading in a subdivison in Watauga once where Andy and his brown nosers said that more than a 1/3 of the lots would not perk. The owner called in some engineering firm and I spent the day with them digging perk holes guess what every lot perk just fine. In fact the guy's were talking about how they didn't understand what Andy's problem was. He is an idiot and if he can't or wont do his job he need to go just like the building inspector here in Ashe that was since down the road.

Fins

Andy is a douche. And I am somewhat surprised he hasn't ended up under a septic tank and missing. But he also is easy to deal with if you know what to do. Spend a little extra money and get a soil scientist to map where a system can go and give it to Andy to sign off on. The scientist out ranks him and removes liability from him. That's the problem, he is scared to death of being sued. It's the same as getting an engineer to stamp anything you know the building inspectors are going to give you **** over.

Andy is a piece of work that has been complained about for over a year and yet hes still in charge. I hear the state knows him well as many trips as they have had to make up here.
