The county would rather own empty buildings then waste money on a dump.

Why are the dump sites in this county all unpaved mudholes, yet paved in surrounding counties?

I think there's a small recycling operation on that road near the BC School Road end and an electrical company on up past the curve but not sure which would need a dumpster.

I don't know about the Warrensville area but I definitely saw a county garbage truck picking up a dumpster on Helen Blevins Road in West Jefferson not too long back and I don't think the county owns any property there so they may be picking up private dumpsters now.

Well I'd say my brother would be very PO'd if that were true. Favoritism is just wrong on so many levels.

I don't think the county provides that service to private businesses. My brother has a business in Warrensville and he was told that the county doesn't do that and given the number to a private company that does dumpster pickups for businesses.

Liquor and numbers get higher. With all we have uncovered on this site, the actions of two commissioners brought to light on this site, and you would doubt anything the county would do or is capable of?

Dog, I doubt they are tipped for free, I believe that your County waste fee is $77.00 annually.

Well I have looked at the budget and I dont see anything that tells me my money is earmarked for the inconvenient centers and the landfill. Those trucks I am guessing here cost well over 200K and traveling over the roads we have here I dont think they can justify emptying dumpsters for their buddies and family.

Dog, You are correct the County does compete with some private companies. I'm unsure as to the requirements for the County to arrange for solid waste disposal, Ashe County could think that they are able to provide the service, and earn a few dollars to to help run the land fill. The county tax for solid waste disposal for residential property is your contribution to running the land fill and the inconvenient centers.
If the county tips a dumpster they will charge for the service, I don't think the residential solid waste fee really has anything to do with this sort of apples and oranges.

So my 175 bucks or whatever it has grown to is being used to empty private dumpsters when there are companies that do this. This would make the county in competition with private garbage companies.

In my experience, the business or individual has to purchase the dumpsters which the County then services at a pre-determined tip rate based on size. I'm not sure if the County Waste division will service a dumpster on an on call basis.
This fellow would know for sure
