Then there is this for Joseph Miller, however I'm not sure it's the same Joseph Miller or if he is one of the heirs of Joseph R, in his defense this could be the fact that an estate has not yet been settled, which does happen sometimes. (Though the executor of the estate should be making the tax payments in such an event)

The complaint filed by the family said Phil called it in, then kitted up and walked over to the house when another officer arrived. He was involved.
Either way, if he didn’t have the sense to provide needed information, like the suspect was blind and deaf, I don’t think he has the attention for detail that one should have for such a job. I know Jr said that’s easy enough to understand, but a LEO is supposed to remember to pass along such info.

So were there two officer Howells involved in the Houck shooting? I thought there was only one and it was Jake not Phil? Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s my recollection of the case.
Windy I have said this before. By election time Bucket will have going on 36 years. Will he make four years is the question I have asked. I really want someone that can serve more then one term.
With the end of the dumpster fire Buchanan administration that was the real-life sad comedy composite of Sheriffs Roscoe P. Coltrane, Buford T. Justice, and Elroy P. Lobo, almost all of the current candidates look the part of Matt Dillon. But lest you forget, Coltrane had Enos, Buford had Junior, and Lobo had Perkins. Last thing we need as another dipstick act staring Mochen. He even favors Lobo’s Deputy Perkins.
I am a Republican, and don’t know who I will support between Howell or Hendrix, but come general election time, Bucky Absher has my vote. No substitute for experience. Give him four years, and if it doesn’t work out, then we move on

For the young’uns out there maybe a little explanation is needed.
I lost all faith in Williams before the houck shooting. He and the rest of the department had to know what a loose cannon the hog was. It makes no difference what had a bullet hole in it. Houck is just as dead and a lawsuit was won.
By all accounts Houck was home alone on the night he was killed, so much of what the lawyers allege happened is pure speculation. The allegations against Howell were dropped for some reason...perhaps for lack of proof, I don't know... I haven't heard his side of the story. We all know what a good lawyer can insinuate in their filings....we say that with Buchanan. If you only listened to Buchanan's lawyers you would believe the charges against him were nothing but a witch hunt, but knowing both sides I think they were justified. Also according to James William's statements to the press, Houck had been shooting toward neighbor's homes all evening and had weapons and ammo stock piled at his door. He also said Houck had even shot up the inside of his own home, so who's to say what would have happened if someone had been home with him.
Joe, the settlement was never published. I just remember a figure that was just under 400 thousand to the Houck family.
I highly doubt that Hoppy hog will be convicted of stepping on a fly with the attorneys he has. I would venture a guess that they have done the same to the DA that bufurts attorneys did. However the Shatley family will surely win a settlement with their lawsuit.
