I would like to see what is included in the numbers but they come from this: https://apps.ncdot.gov/news...hx?id=2037

So here is the interesting thing. According to this data our little airport ranks 14th out of 63 general aviation airports in economic impact yet is ranked 47th out of 63 in tax revenue(as a percentage of economic impact - 2.025%)

Also, Induced dollars is what I would consider the most important to the citizens of Ashe county, that would be the "money recirculated in an economy resulting in additional economic activity" and there it drops to 53rd out of 63.

Very easy to see that it has little impact on the rest of us. They are hiding behind a big number that makes them look good.

That landing strip benefits no one but some rich, no very rich second home owners. There are no businessmen using that landing strip. The vanoys can carry their plane to North Wilkesboro where there are business executives using that airport. I am tired of maintaining that strip for the rich or less then 1% to use.

I'm still waiting, patiently, for Tom's response to my question ... why is repaving the runway a terrific idea? I benefits no one but the business executives and flying enthusiasts. What's in it for the rest of the county?

Tell Sam it's not the highest airport in NC. It might be the highest public airport, but his statement as he made it is incorrect.

As for the airport supporting $32million in local economy, I can't help but wonder, what is Vannoy's annual revenue? Could it be that all of their gross revenue is included in that number because they have a corporate plane at the airport? More smoke and mirrors

Just like pouring money down a snake hole or light it up with a match. When will the tax payer wake up?

Ok ... I'm not going to bait you. I'm asking you straight up ... why do you believe it's a terrific idea?

Repaving the runway sounds like a terrific idea. They should have thought of this sooner.

Ummmm ... their webpage states "The Ashe County Airport is perfect for business executives and flying enthusiasts". How do tax dollars going to this money pit benefit the county if it's perfect for business executives and flying enthusiasts? This county's leadership is a joke and virtually non-existent. They play their games and have their fun with whatever tickles their sphincter for the week. First, they want to pay $12K for "In God We Trust" to go up on buildings, then they want to play games with DSS and Donna Weaver, only to forget the whole thing once they get her resignation. Now this? Can we please remove these morons from power? PLEASE REMOVE THESE MORONS FROM POWER!

I'd love to see the data that supports the economic contribution to the county.
