Another Department Trying To Get Paid To Do Nothing

Jack I agree with you also there should be a regular audit. I think also a officer should be limited to at least two years Max that way a lot will not happen. There are sometimes members will not stand up to the captain I have heard the ash captain Maybe blackmailing some of his members that works for his plumbing shop

Jack, I don't know if the County performing the audit would be ok or not. A satisfactory annual or at least biennial independent financial audit performed to relevant accounting standards should be the requirement from the Commissioners to continue to recieve tax funds from the County. If the county performs the audit you'll find that "sob" stories will allow for unequal treatment for the various clubs.

The only problem I find with not going after the money from Welch is another department saying well if its ok for Todd its ok for us. I do see the cost of court may outweigh what the county could get in return. Not having all the facts such as a recorded or not recorded promissory note makes for more questions. I will say that each department should be audited by the county each year as a safe guard against this in the future.

I don’t think Ashe and watauga found it was OK. But sometimes it’s not worth prosecuting. In a case of so many involved, finding who was really at fault and knew they were breaking the law could make a case tough. Each person’s defense would be “it wasn’t me. They told me this was perfectly ok”

Btw, see how much better punctuation makes it? Thanks for giving it an effort

So Ashe and Watauga counties found it alright for Todd fire club board to "loan" Welch over 60 thousand dollars. Not sure on the amount it may have been in the thirties. That was tax money taken from citizens for the running of the fire club.

Hey ladies and gentlemen, I'm not sure but I would probably try to get rid of that Captain before it brings your department down we have been there it can ruin your whole organization I'll leave it at that

If the captain is not following there by laws and rules that's the boards place to call a meeting and neither correct him or suspend him.. the board can be held accountable if there is ever any criminal charges and be dismissed the same as Todd fire department was.

Just asking how long has this subject been the captain. Our department only allows a position for 2 years that includes the captain it does not give the officer time to do a lot speaking about the corruption

Yes Jack, That was Chris Welch, he was the one that took the money . His board never bothered taking care of it . Google it in Ashe and Watauga see for yourself. Also that what is taking place at the Ashe Rescue we have found out from several people . There was embezzlement few years ago and they say that they foreclosed on his home in Warrenville a couple year ago, and he want work . Found that is all true about his President of the board Wayne Osborne he is the one running for commissioner.

Remind me of what Fleetwood tried to do.

No one ever answered about the money taken from the Todd fire club if it has ever been repaid.

Thanks everyone ,for your post and all the concerns. Each of us as tax payers that are part of this county have a voice and it counts. When we have a department that is trying to follow the footsteps of Fleetwood we need to speak out.

Typically, the opinions of uneducated people is of less value than those opinions of informed individuals. So no, i dont need to learn to speak stupid. I have actually tried to go out of my way to make the point that the OP's posts are comprehensible. I thought maybe he could correct them some or slow down and actually get a point across. But if other ignorant people are going to try to defend such abilities while we have a wonderful free education system, Im going to stop walking softly on the subject. Ive found that very often someone of such mental ability have caught on to a piece of information and then created a false rumor and started spreading it because they werent capable of verifying their original data. So I very much question the legitimacy of what little info could be deciphered from the OP's posts.

I am having my doubts the county needs anything until someone comes up with some numbers to convince me otherwise.

Don't know the background of this complaint but in Wilkes the county gives the rescue squad almost $100k a year for backup ambulance service

I think you all should let the man speak his mind. Not everyone is as perfect as some of you. Maybe you need to learn "his" language.

I Would be willing to bet the person on the rescue squad that is pushing this the hardest is the same person wanting the job, if it gets approved!
