Jack apparently you don't understand!!! Ashe County pays for your insurance after 25 years. They are county government. That is Ashe County's call. Boone pays for their officers insurance but that is their choice!!! They are municipal govt. I know it is probably over your head but the two don't intertwine!!! If that is the case why do people still have to work 25 years in Ashe as a county employee to be eligible for their PAID insurance!!! County has other people who have worked in other agencies that will still have to work 25 years without a break in service!!! Lawsuits ready to be filed if that happens!!!

New boy were you to understand the retirement systems in NC you would know that Boone's retirement is the same system as Ashe county. He doesnt have to "roll" anything. He may want the county to accept his sick time so he want lose it. Most often counties do this. So there is no BS for you to jump on.

You all were sold down the river. Also saw in the paper he is starting roadblocks again. What is this Nazi Germany!!! PAPERS PLEASE!!! Roadblocks are Highway Patrol jobs not Sheriff's Office jobs. Rhodes did exactly what he should have done. Paid respect to two public servants that are retiring. The jail comment was a dig at Buchanan and the commissioners that appointed him. Btw, the only place that reported the jail was almost shut down was this forum. So Rhodes has been paying attention. But he should have held his tongue and passed on the opportunity to take a shot at Bufurt.

As for Howell, of course he was there. I would expect s new sheriff to be at the commissioners meeting. But you need to learn thst just because two things happen doesn’t mean they are related. His presence at the meeting doesn’t equal an endorsement of anything the commissioners said or did. I thought you were smart enough to get thwt

Tabs, wanna bet the jail gets shut down when the State Inspector, State Attorney General & Dept Of Justice gets a copy of those pictures and videos? I already know of one within the State alarmed over the pics... It's not like it's going to go unnoticed or away... and, Having County Commissioners who aren't aware of what went on within the jail isn't much of a shocker considering the county is facing multiple lawsuits. Most of those could have been avoided had our Commissioners payed attention to what was going on and dealt with the issues rather than turn a blind eye..

The clue is......our commissioners applauded the way the jail has been run for the last several months. They paid no attention to the foolishness posted on this site. Since Howell was at the meeting , he was probably paying no attention to stuff on here either.

Does everything she can on here to get Bucky elected and talk down Howell. When that fails she’s on here doing everything she can to minimize the voices calling for Howell to make immediate and significant change in the jail.
