Yes they do. My question is are they going to be accused of jumping line if they get their vaccine before those that are in Group 1? The ones that qualified for Group 1 that weren't 65+ are being accused of just that.

What really happened is that 40 doses were taken. That has been made clear. However, of the 40 the majority were given to people in group 1. That was stated on the news last night. There were 13 doses that were left over. Those 13 were given to people that were not 65+, but were actually covered by group 1 requirements. That was also stated last night on the news. One person that was given the vaccine has been open about receiving the vaccine. They had contacted the state in January to clarify that what she had been told. The state said yes she qualified because she renders medical support to her child with special needs. So she contacted the health department and was added to the list. When she got the call she got her shot. In all reality if we are mad over this little amount being given out then we have bigger issues. There are part time residents coming here to get their vaccines instead of getting them were the majority of their residency takes place. I forget the total number the news said that were given to out of state residents at the mass vaccination in Charlotte. Now I wonder how many are going to fuss when the teachers are able to get their vaccines if they get it before those 65+?

Hiking, so what really happened?

No, Whatever it doesn't mean Ashe Services or other services like that.. I did research and it says a caregiver that has in-person contact. The parent/child that gives medical treatment to a child or parent inside the home paid or non paid qualifies. I would much rather see the vaccines being used instead of being wasted anyway. It doesn't matter if the person that gets the vaccine isn't the age. It matters that they qualify. I had to enter my parents' info more than once to finally get a message saying they even qualified. According to the news info last night most of those that received the 40 doses actually were in the group being vaccinated at the moment. Was it right for them to take them? No, but they were misused like the rumors being told. It is what it is.

While all the health departments in the state are frowned on and scolded by the state if does are wasted this was not the case with the four viles that went missing. This is not hard to figure out, someone bragged about health department employees or employee giving doses to family and friends and thus the investigation. Notice that they lied and then somewhat admitted what took place. Watauga was giving shots to people not in the current group also.

What can you do when the weakness in the system is the patients?

There needs to be a better system put into place. This looks bad.

From what I understand, this is not uncommon. The health departments plan for appointments and thaw out the needed doses. But a lot of people aren't showing up for the appointments they make. Then they are finding anyone they can to give the doses to so they don't go bad.

Playing favorites again. Totally unacceptable behavior and the head of the Appalachian Health should be held accountable!

The requirements for the first groups specified paid or non-paid healthcare workers. Some of the people under 65 who were vaccinated have special needs children and claimed they qualified because of that. The regulations specify home health care, meaning someone working for a Ashe Services for the Aging would qualify if they do home visits. It did not mean caring for your own child in your own home. Still waiting on my 90 year old relative to get scheduled for the first dose.

Well Nick had the vaccine appheath bunch on WBTV tonight. Said the vaccine went to family and friends. Watauga was guilty too. Now they will be watched like a prison work gang.

Notice how Apps story kept changing. Every single vile of vaccine is tracked like a blood hound. There are doctors office employees in direct contact with patients that have not had a vaccine and they pull this stunt.

Wow! That number jumped from what one news station said. What I've been told that the story was blown out of proportion. Those given the vaccines were in fact in the guidelines. Yes they were under the age of 65, but meet guidelines. If we are vaccinating employees at eye care places because it is "medical" then we should vaccinate those family members that are tending to needs of fragile people at home.

They used 40 doses on persons not qualified for the vaccine. Read the article by a watchdog on WRAL.
