County employees cannot "take" their personnel file I am not sure whether or not they are entitled to their file. The files were missing when new sheriff took over.

All county employees are entitled to their personal file. The employer can't deny an employee their file copied.

What proof is there that Bucky or James removed their files, anyone with access could have. Including the current Sheriff.

As per Gene Goss, He had his faults but he was overall one of the best law enforcement officers we ever had. I worked some with him and knew about his sexual exploits and other things that were bad but didn't effect his work as a police officer. There was good comraderie in the sheriff's office when Gene was sheriff and he was a great working sheriff.

I don't recall it ever spilling out into the papers cliftonridge. This is probably the most corrupt group of recent times. I have no doubt other commissioners have gamed the system. I'm sorry but most people running for office aren't looking to help their fellow man, they are looking to advance themselves. There just aren't really many Mr Smith goes to Washington in real life. If you have specific charges and want to levy them feel free to do so. The only accusations I've heard before though in the last 30 years (other than Price and Poe which I consider part of the current corruption) was Sheriff Goss.

And is Bucky going to return his and Williams personal files to county. That is illegal for him to take. Whoever let him have the files should be fired.

JR you are misinformed. Former commissioners and managers have had shady dealings going in here in ashe as far back as 70's. Land deals, jobs made up for certain people, doing other jobs while manager not related to county. Special land deals. Favor for favor, costing county taxpayers but getting personal gain, backroom dealings. Wake up and smell the coffee.

If you had heard all of the back door dealings that happened with every other Sheriff- including Williams- you would outraged!

Aficianados, yes more technology and social media have made information more available.. and it DOES matter. Corruption, back door deals, favors, all of that has been going on with EVERY Sheriff!

I'm sure there has been a few favors called in over the years, but this sheriff we got now was appointed not elected. Out of all the other sheriff's mentioned we have to admit they were elected by the majority of voters in Ashe and personally I feel like the voters made good decisions in electing these men for sheriff. Can't find one person out in public who has anything positive to say about the new sheriff and the county commissioners who appointed him, and if this WBTV investigation produces any corruption it will impact our county for years to come.

I remember hearing the rumors, but not believing them at the time. I never heard anything negative about Gene from anyone I would consider reliable. The one businessman in WJ that always bad mouthed Gene, turned out he was mad because when his son got a DUI in Wilkes, Gene would not call anyone or write a letter to the judge on the kids behalf. For some reason, he thought then, and still does today, that Gene could call his buddy in Wilkes and have the charges just disappear.

I remember Gene Goss being involved with the Ore Knob Mine deal but never heard anythig negative, not to say that law- enforcement doesn't make deals and such for information. But bufort and all these county government folks involved in this corruption take the cake.

I heard that Sheriff Goss was pretty dirty. Many at the time believed he was in cahoots with the drug trade in the county. I don't know if that's true. But I remember much talk about it. I don't remember a time when the Commissioners, Sheriff and County Manager all were subject to such allegations before now though.
