Not much chance of that if we keep electing the same commissioners....

The manager should be keeping the county out of lawsuits instead he tries to get the county sued. He has it backwards.Send him home to Caldwell county.

With all the lawsuits the county has been receiving, I expect to one morning read that the insurance company dropped the county.

He does actually....
He counts on the majority not paying attention to whats going on and keep electing the Commissioners that enable him, and nothing in the primary disproved his thought of us....

Yosemite Sam made a comment the really got my dander up. Claiming that $300k didn't come out of the county's pocket (but the insurance company) is pretty stupid. The county will wind up paying all of that $300k to the insurance company in the form of increased premiums.
Does he really think we are that stupid?

What is sad is folks overwhelmingly voted to keep the 2 incumbents in the GOP primary. Which ensures we'll keep flushing money down the toilet....

They will reverse this decision at the next meeting. It was a political move for the election.

Just wait until they lose and the Cecile's file a law suit for loss of income. What gets me is everyone wants good paved roads but no one wants an asphalt plant near them. My Mil. lives with in a half mile of MayMeads plant in Boone and you wouldn't know it if you didn't know the plant was there.

Yeah Joe, I was disappointed in McNeil too for going along with this. I’m all for making everyone of them pay back the citizens. Aren’t they up to $600,000 now?

The Hoppy lawsuits are nothing compared to this amount of money.

Can I change my vote for Sands to someone else since he thinks wasting tax payer money on an appeal is the right thing to do. When the board loses the appeal they should be require to reimburse the tax payers the money they have wasted.

I think there is a good court argument that the commissioners have been refusing the asphalt plant as a pure political stunt and are incompetent with the use of our tax money.

The science does not support the opposition to this plant. Ashe County has had a batch plant for years with no adverse impact on property values or harm to the Christmas Tree industry, if a plant were such a dramatic hit to tourism then Boone should still be a one stop sign town in the mountains, the batch plant and quarry both sit on a main traffic artery into town form the south and it has not slowed the traffic down in 35 years. This could be a last gasp by the incumbents to earn a few primary votes, I hope those who have not voted will not fall for this and continue to vote for the change that is needed to move Ashe forward.

What complete morons. The planning board even voted to accept the last ruling and to stop all the bleeding. Absolutely ridiculous.

Nothing more than a political stunt the day before the primaries in the hopes they keep their seats. This boondoggle has already cost the county 600k dollars, and it's a case they can't win....
