Before Trump when in office I warned that the country has entered a time that the political parties have caused such division that neither side views the other at legitimate government. We see it with the impeachment of Trump. We saw it under Obama. We refuse to accept the results of elections. We have a problem. It concerns me to see politicians call each other un-American, but it concerns me more to hear it from my own friends around the community.

But there is the difference in calling his speech un-American and saying he hates America. Call him out on his writings are going more extreme. I have no problem with that, and I can even agree with that on occasion. However, you can't attack his character and patriotism due to his political views. There is a big difference.

There are things Ken writes about that I do agree with such as the county manager position not being advertised and interviews conducted. I'm not sure we got the best. Ken has become so negative about everything from the county on up. He is trying to mirror himself after the ultra liberal progressives. He was not like this when his party occupied the white house but as soon as it changed he became a different person than the one I enjoyed once reading his writings. Notice that since a democrat now occupies the Raleigh governor shack everything is right with the state and he writes nothing.

America is founded on disagreement and reaching a compromise. The truth is, politics are opinions and either opinion can work, because in the end, people will continue with their daily lives. Neither is really wrong. Unfortunately we've reached a point where people now think the other side is fundamentally wrong all the time. And to make it worse, this fundamentalism isn't even really based on ideology. It's based on party. If tomorrow Pelosi made a speech for ending all gun control and requiring every citizen over 18 to be armed, the left would be all. I think this modern attitude is un-American. And with some of Ken's writings he seems to be approaching closer and closer to this extreme polarized position

Jack we have agreed and disagreed and disagreed on many things. Our views on local government are in line with each other. Our views on National politics are total opposite. Yet we have had colorful dialog and at the end of the day I always respect your opinions. I will admit at times you have changed my mind on certain things.
