Christmas Parade 2014

It didn't make me feel better at all. I personally consider parades a waste of time and effort and they only serve to entertain the weak minded and those with limited imaginations. But, nonetheless, I am pleased that such things exist for those unfortunate souls.

Yeah Coop if for no other reason, the parade is good for putting a smile on the kids faces...

The Christmas Parade is a wonderful thing for those who are easily entertained, and I am very glad that it is available for those who like that sort of thing. Beautiful, please note that I didn't attack anything or anyone there, and I stayed right on the topic of the Christmas Parade, the one thi year that just happened. The 2014 one.

And I also remember that the kids liked the mini trucks that the Shriners had. Now back to the moderating discussion.

IMO I highly doubt each and every member goes to the parade...

Who is left at the fire houses to put your house out if all of them are in a parade?

I did not see the honor guard or any of their vehicles. I saw the rescue squad had about three or four trucks. I'm one of those that falls for seeing the fire trucks. Most of the guys had their kids on the truck with them. My dad was in a local volunteer fire department back in the 50's - 70's. Back then members didn't get consumed by the power trip.

Dad always borrowed money from first national and they had an unwritten rule that guys that were in the VFD , a civic group and a church were a better loan risk than guys that hung out around the pool hall and joes taxi stand.

Back to the post. I liked the parade better at noon than three. You could get it over with and still have your day left over.

Coop, was the big boys and girls dress up club in the parade too? And did they have their vehicles with the lights flashing?

Personally, I don't get the hose jockey trucks in a parade. I know some little kids like them, but it always seemed to me that the hose jockeys enjoy just a bit too much being in the parade. The worst are those stupid hose jockey truck parades they have off the mountain. A whole parade of hose jockey trucks, lights flashing and sirens blowing. And adults getting all excited. They say that lack of intelligence is directly connected to ones tolerance of noise. These hose jockey truck parades are a great place to find bus loads of stupid.

Well, Thats a tough question. I took a load of people. Four generations to be exact.
My kids were home and enjoyed seeing a lot of their friends that they went to school with at Ashe Central. Their kids - four of them had mixed reviews. Two of them have not stopped talking about all the fire trucks and seeing Smokey the Bear. Trisha wants to be in Debbies dance team and is still prancing around the house. The fourteen year old said it was lame. I don't know how he knew as he had his head stuck to his I Phone the whole time. I liked the folks giving away small footballs. Wife like the old Red Hat ladies ( She should be one )

My dad like the antique cars. One in particular got a response from my mother to "shut up" ( something about the back seat and one of her best friends) Mom walked down to the "so called cheese plant". You can get the same cheese cheaper at Ingles under the "Laura Lynn" label.

I liked the fact that everyone found something. I liked watching all the kids in the parade. Some marching all straight faced like they were in a state funeral - some cutting up and playing pranks.

What I like best is that it was free. Beats going to Tweetsie for the hundreth time and dropping three hundred dollars.

Anyone attend the Christmas Parade yesterday in West Jefferson? Was it worth the time and effort to attend, or just another ho hum event?
