Wow, just plain unadulterated ignorance. Which one of the three are you kin to?

Bring a college in, then we can experience more congestion, traffic, and a higher crime rates. Keep Ashe as it is!!

I cant believe I am about to say this and in no way do I agree with what either of them did or didnt do but I really dont think either of them would have sent the opportunity of a community college packing. That would be Gerry and Poe.

Ashe commissioners continue to hold a plethora of embarrassment for everybody regardless of who's in office. Those three idiots vote down something that could potentially improve the workforce in this country or attract businesses with a more educated and technologically advanced group of workers available.

But no, let's keep the status quo and only worry about what junk trinkets get sold to gullible tourists.

Its time for old dog to weigh in on the wilkes community college missed opportunity. Likely the chance to have a college right here in the county will never come again. With the college here it would have drawn industry to the county. It would have kept families in the county spending money, building houses and growing the tax base of this county. The owners of the land were all but going to give the land for the college. The only reason one of the numb skulls could come up with was the land purchase.

I can only guess who was behind the decision these three idiots made. They aren't smart enough to have come up with a no conclusion on their own.

And the reason they had to lease that building was because the current building is being over utilized and could not meet the needs of the training. When you start spreading out like that it's inefficient. The whole reason it was built in the first place was to have a Central location for classes. In the early 80s there were classes held at multiple locations all over the county.

That building wasn't purchased by the college. It has been owned by Ashe County Jobs Inc for quite some time. It was merely leased to the college for the workforce development training of GE's new employees.

Kind of gives off a smell mentioned often by some of our posters here very recently. Notice on the Caldwell county register of deeds and Gis the manager owning his house there and nothing in Ashe.

I do not feel this is a significant blow at all. Why spend more money, another multi million dollar building was just purchased for education beside GE, for the college. How about utilizing that entire building before you starting crying about more money and space.

I find this piece of information interesting. The county manager of Ashe is on the boad of trustees for Caldwell Community College. http://www.cccti.edu/Catalo...eddest=bot Wonder how this affects his thinking on Wilkes Community?

A nave female friend of mine thought she would just eat the fruit left in a jar of blueberry and ended up more intoxicated than those of us who had been partaking of the liquid form. We thought it was hilarious, she, however, was not so amused when she came to the next day.

Agent my friend, I do believe it proves how right we have all been as to the readership and the participation in how high it reaches in the county. They were loving the quiet of not being challenged. I feel we were the direct result of the mouth breathers putting a stop to the planning meetings behind doors.

I was reading an article the other day about our DSS in which some budget figures were being thrown out. The figure was not even close to what the county budgets them.

Isn't it strange how there are still people who criticize the observations of some of us while they support and accept the shenanigans performed supposedly on our behalf by our elected representatives? I recently here read a comment by one of the slug that something was just small town politics, as if that makes it right.

I saw the meeting about the security guard brewhaha. Roark and the guard are old buddies from being in the national guard together, so I guess he was trying to help him out, but in the end Roark made himself look like a fool and shouldn't have blasted the sheriff over how he operates his department.

That's funny since NC already gave a big chunk of land away that is now TN.

Personally i think NC should auction off Watauga Co. to Tn.

Was your grand pappy akin to the three orchestrated idiots that voted no Monday?

And I doubt you will read anything about it. I never said anything about moving the Teachers College. However when the push for expansion of the college and expanding public education into the area my great grandfather wanted that to happen here in Ashe. With little support the Teachers college was expanded. I have no reason to doubt this he was a very prominent local politician, and gave Ashe County over 30 years of service through the school board and as a Commissioner and 50 years as a minister.
