County manager's contract extended

NSA Troll

Posted 8:37 am, 10/05/2016

Does anyone know the details of this contract? If the county manager is fired "for cause', such as being caught with his hand in the till or maybe out in the barn with the preacher's teenage daughter, does he still get the severance?

NC Health Policy. Wilkes and Allegany both provide free insurance to commissioners and Former Commisssioners.Report was 2005 but Ashe was not mentioned on the report.

I would like some info as to whether or not a once elected County Commisioner receives lifetime medical insurance??? In Wilkes county a Commisioner that has served 1 term gets free lifetime Health coverage. Is that standard statewide??

Donna would not kiss the king of the hardees club Roarks a**. Nor would she kiss beat in 2 primary's poes a** either. So they got rid of her.

I would like to point out that this was the same 3 idiots that would not give Donna a half person to help out in the DSS but they give $600 car allowance without hesitation.

All they would have to do is make him move.

I considered that option, but I'm not really sure how much he can really affect in their preference. Especially since any new members should know what he's doing. And if he quits he doesn't get a sevrence pay. It's not hard to make an unwanted employee quit.

I don't necessarily helps them except for keeping them in the loop and he lobby for things like the airport. Sam has no real power, but can make it difficult if there is a change in the board and a change in ideology.

The severance package is not two years of $180,000. It's a one time $170,000. This is a total sum of two years of his annual salary. While this will make it harder for a new board to fire the manager, I don't see how this helps the current board if they are voted out.

If Rhodes is re-elected and they get at least get one democrat on the board, things will change in the voting. Rhodes and Sands have at least stood up to the other 3 and you add a vote that will at times vote with them and you will see a big difference.

This move was insurance just in case there was a sweep by the democrats. Highly unlikely, yet I think it shows they are scared. If there was a sweep it forces the board to keep him around until he next election. Essentially, if they lose.... Poe, Roark, and those that have been pulling their strings are going to use the Managers position to their benefit. The extra severance shows there may be some expected conflict.

I think a better question would be what did Sam do for them? What has Sam done that was so great for the county other then help run Donna Weaver off and micro manage the employees of the county?

Its so stupid to give someone 2 years of 180,000 if he gets fired . Why would you want to work if you knew you was guaranteed that much.Plus 2 commissioners didn't even know that they was considering giving tax payers money away like that. Roark, rose, and bruno wow guys what were you thinking?

I agree, they must not be thinking they have much of a chance in November, I know I plan to vote against the current incumbents. So they are now binding the county to additional years and even greater severance. Government shouldn't be allowed to extend contracts, pass new regulations etc in the 6 months before a general election....

But he showed that he to is a moron, with his reasoning. Contracts get renegotiated or extended all the time before they are up. It's the same with his voting against the ambulance contract.

Aw shucks

Rhodes deserves a medal. He was one of the two commissioners who voted against this political maneuvering to benefit a true egotistical moron who is out only for himself and is afraid of losing his cushy position if the election doesn't go his way.

Rhodes proves again that he is a moron.

Essentially Roark (and his puppet masters) are buying insurance because they think they will lose in November.

Gary and his boys are looking after the Caldwell county resident. They must be afraid of what is going to happen in the up coming election. Its about time for an election thread to be started.

Political corn maze! Unfortunately it would only hurt the tax payers dollars in the county's general fund if Sam went back to Hudson!!
