Ashe also pays for a full time DSS attorney, about 80000.00 a year plus the perks,Travel ect ect.

It is 1 of only A few that do. Wilkes County Does not and it is the 2nd largest county in the state.

They have 3 Times the cases that ashe does. Why do the tax payers have to pay for this?

I sincerely doubt that any of the commissioners put in as much as a day a week. I'd say a day a month outside of their meeting days if that much. One only has to go to Hardee's for breakfast to see where the chair spends most of his time.

The salaries of the mouth breathers does not include travel its paid separately. Also I found out the idiots are given the option of buying insurance through the county and even dental. Yet you have Richerson and rose missing meetings left and right.

Basking you could be correct, it may include reimbursements. I wonder how closely those are looked at.

As for time on the job, I'd say they work more than 24 days a year. They may have scheduled meetings 24 days a year but no doubt they have to meet with and discuss things with county employees on other days. I'm not arguing its a full time position, it's part time but it probably for the average commissioner averages to 1-2 days a week over a year. Which that is pretty good pay for such work.

If we only expect them to work 24 days a year, then perhaps that explains their videos of meetings.....the just aren't doing their due diligence in their job.

And to think, these morons are costing us tens of thousands of dollars a year we would be better off to send them all home and let the county manager run everything. Same result, and it would save roughly $100,000 a year. We could pass that on to the county employees that are under paid and keep the daily system moving

Got that time.

Not one person in that room monday had sense enough to say, stop lets listen and watch the tape and see what you did. Oh wait we cant see but we can hear. What a circus.

Dog, Forward to 1:46 into it and that's the good part. I just pulled it up and I could hear it. At the beginning they discussed it briefly before the actual presentation

Well guess what. After Franks presentation the tape goes blank about house bill 875.

You could put that whole gang down at Hardees together and not one of them would have sense enough to raise an umbrella. They must be the puppets Roark is listening to.

It appears Roark is paid to hold court daily down at Hardee's. He is paid $$47.96 daily for 365 days a year. There are 24 regular meetings a year and a handful of budget work meetings. I guess the rest is for chairing the morning coffee sessions to see who they can run down and criticize.

I Also don't understand how Richardson and Rose's pay is figured. Why are they paid more than the other two. Why Richardson more than Rose?

Why is the Tax Administrator paid more than the Dept. Of Elections Administrator. Both have large responsibilities. Why such a difference? Biggest one is why is there a hard working full time employee working 40 hours a week who only makes $7000 more than Roark? That's 260 workdays compared to 24. It is a shame and an embarrassment.

I believe the numbers for the commissioners includes travel expenses and other reimbursements. Which would explain the odd numbers and big differences between each commissioner

Scott, the head mouth breathing idiot gets more pay as does his lap dog assistant vice chairman.

I dont think anyone is begrudging the raises or the 500k to the hospital. I for one changed my mind several months ago about the money. But what pisses me off is the money stops and goes to the county in 3 years and the sales tax stays in place. The idiots will have an extra half a million to piss away. I'm for keep giving it to the hospital. I can show you in two seconds where to cut 2 million.

Why do the County Commissioners make different amounts? It seems to have no rhyme nor reason there.

However as others have said compared to many other counties we pay under the state average for these fields.

As for AMH the 500k a year was to keep it in business, not to pay off debt. Without the infusion of money AMH would have closed, and with it you could kiss tourism and what few factories we have left goodbye. AMH like most things in the county pay less than the state average, so they were having trouble retaining staff and that's the reason there was a 3% raise.

I don't think they should be audited every year , but they should have to submit their finances to the commissioners.

The tax office looks heavy on employees also. Their pay compared to other counties is low.

I didn't see too many salaries there that qualify as descent. But, I did see some places that had too many employees (like register of deeds). Cut some of them and pay the others better.

I agree with you. I don't think any of those salaries are out of line. I think that in the past there was some good ol' boy slippage going on with regard to allowing under performance from some employees. I also believe that by and large has been taken care of. They need regular pay and benefit increases to keep up with the ret of the world. O t lest this part of the State. We are a far better group of citizens than what Southern Justice showed to the Country. And I bet if they had it to do over again, that wouldn't be allowed to happen again.
