Nope that is incorrect. Names can be released without the permission of a person. Also all positive persons are told to the sheriffs department, EMS, Fire club first responders. A county in SC has developed a program in their cad system that automatically gives them a code that an address has a positive case.

Hippa is only a perceived magic wand used by the uneducated in the law. There is also another site that under Covid 19 giving the exact state statue telling exactly why hippa does not apply in the case of a pandemic.

Any medical professional is bound by HIPPA laws. They are not allowed to discuss ANYONE'S medical information without permission from said person! But I guess hiding behind an screen name gives them a pass.

As soon as it was first announced that there was going to be a 2week break from school, omg, it was so predictable that people were going to run off to the beach and elsewhere. Was it smart...of course not, just like I don't think it was smart for the lady to go to NYC. Did she bring the virus back with her there's a chance she did, but to all you self righteous people who want to continue to condemn her, you nor I know that for a fact....the obvious answer isn't always the correct one. But if any of you think that that virus wasn't going to reach Ashe county, you are living in a fantasy world. Justanfyi and all others.....when ASU and other college students were sent home, it was not to go home and vacat. If they had stayed home then Ashe County would not have 4 positive cases of COVID and possibility more. The virus has serious effects. Health care individuals who are testing and treating hospitalized patients are putting their lives on the line. I know of individuals who are testing people and when their shift is over for the day, they are not going home to their family and won't until they feel safe. Yes, the individuals who went to New York are responsible for Ashe County's number. Pray there will not be more.

Sorry to disappoint you, I'm not butt hurt, but it's just sad to see how ignorant people are. I find it amazing how you think it was wrong of her to go to NYC and ok for you not to get the flu shot, some may say you put people's lives at danger. And since a huge majority of people in Ashe got had some strand of the flu and you didn't your immune system must be impeccably, so why the sudden fear now? Were you on here ranting for names of the people who tested positive for the flu?? I knew several that had it. Just because it wasn't on the news doesn't make it any less important, the flu kills too or is that ok with you? And as far as vaccines, I guarentee that you will take one for covid19 whether you know what's in it or not, you may not have a choice.
