I did, I chose to go with your momma. So stop being so bitter about it. Once I got past that used part, the rest of her old box wasn't to bad.

Poe is a cancer that we can't get rid of. This whole thing is over nothing and she knows it. She has never liked when others call her out on things she says. Especially when those things are true.

The entire purpose for all of this was to get even with Donna Weaver. Someone brought this to the forefront reminding us of Donna making a fool out of Judy Poe when she was a commissioner. She is one vengeful SOB. She evidenced that when she could not let Nancy Henry get in the last word. Maybe our training a couple of years ago of Nancy on this site helped Nancy. Poe was so upset with all this getting out in the public and her thinking she could get away with this was very obvious each time her lips moved. If you recall she mentioned goashe in a commissioner meeting a couple of times.

That's exactly why they want to control it. They think they can cut all the bums off the system and save millions

So if the Tea Party advocates for less government control and stricter adherance to the Constitution, why would it make sense for the BoC to take over control of DSS? With DSS being a welfare program for the populace, it seems to be the last entity the Tea Party would be interested in controlling.

Although Poe is in any way smart enough to be director for DSS, lets see if that is what she has been pushing for all this time over the past 2 years

Amazingly, I sense that Roark feels he is in a no win situation. He has fellow Republicans that have a lot of influence saying that this is a bad idea, yet his puppet master is telling him to vote yes. As of right now he is in Damage Control mode. You can see that by bringing up the unpaid tax issue again. In his defense he is right.(Amazing that I just said that). If the issue is money, the county can still get money from unpaid taxes....they stand to gain very little and probably nothing from the DSS move.

In response to this:
"Ashe County spends $4,310,000 for administrative costs for 27,000 people. Alexander County spends $3,398,000 for 38,000 people. I can go on and on," Hentschel said. "Watauga County, which has double our population, spends half as much money on the administration. To give you an example, they (Watauga DSS) have 47 people, Ashe County has 85. They have double our population, and yet, you as county commissioners have done nothing about it."
I'd like to know the true demographics of each county. Unemployment rates for each. I would guess that Ashe Co has more people in need as a whole. Also, I've heard that two of the four Medicaid workers in Watauga are out due to heart attacks, which leaves two of the workers with an amount of work that will cause them to have health issues if they affected by work load and deadlines. In addition, what is their error rate? Hummm....I could go on.

This was never truly about waste or saving the county money. It w was and is about the desire of one bitter woman with her own agenda. She got her team of lackeys to follow by first calling in favors owed by Yearick and by dangling Weaver's job in front of him for his best friend, Sexton. Roark would follow Yearick anywhere just by getting his ego stroked. Rose and Richardson just aligned themselves as a trio from the get go. Rose will say he would have voted no, and appeared to be leaning that way at the end. However, behind closed doors, he had supported team Poe. Bruno was telling people that it was a done deal. So, now irreparable damage has been done. Can DSS be saved? Not with Sexton. Damage control is definitely the spin now.

No one, not one living sole has shown me where one dime has been misused within the dss. Each week a new excuse has been dreamed up when their train to derail Donna Weaver ran off the tracks. Now Its damage control as they must continue the charade even though Donna is leaving.
Its down right amazing that some arm chair morons are given figures from other county dss programs without comparing apples to oranges. Dss is very complex as has been said here before. The state keeps a very watchful eye on almost every aspect.
Yet we continue to poor money into an airport that serves less than 1% of the population and continue to employ people to look after a park that should be privatized . Millions wasted each year on just these two. I would bet more people go to Mt Jefferson state park than Ashe park.

If all you do is add an additional layer of management you are not "streamlining". The DSS board is supposed to do an annual evaluation of the director and of itself. Has anyone seen any of these. I read the duties of the DSS board to be a bit more compelling than what the two members have said. The state folks will send you a copy of the board requirements if you use the contact us tab. And yes I used my name (not required) and real email. Once we are afraid to voice our opinions to those that serve us then be are way over the edge and the veiled threat about it being public information only makes me more assured that the wrong people are in the job..

Funny that Judy whines here and at the meeting about her "facts" while never explaining how the transfer to the commissioners would actually streamline the process. And all the while, she calls the citizens "stupid heads". Come to think of it, maybe they are--they elected her twice.

The funny thing is that Judy claimed that no one attacked her numbers. Well you have to present relevant information. Nothing she said was a smoking gun to support this so called streamlining.
Also, if she thinks the board is a waste of time then she is not doing her duties and should be removed. Her job is an advocate for those "stupid" people of Ashe. Its her job to advocate for those that need the services, not advocate for a faction of tea party nuts.

And there we finally get to the root of the issue. The whole thing is a power trip. The mouth breathers are upset they can't muscle and threaten the DSS director.
Given the sensitive issues that DSS has to deal with, the director should not be subject to political influence. Especially when those politicians are complete morons that suffer from SDS.
