First the story: 'I thought we were done': Parts fall from sky in plane scare (apnews.com)


While the GE Aviation Plant in WJ does produce parts for engines (GE90) (Boeing 777-200 - Specifications - Technical Data / Description (flugzeuginfo.net) ) used in some of Boeing's 777-200 fleet, it appears that the engine which suffered a "catastrophic failure" was a Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine.
