I think that the point Texas was probably going for was that if you want people to listen to you and take you seriously, then post intelligently. Name calling and insulting makes any group lose credibility.

Texas, it is also obvious that you single out certain threads and demand references and demand people post as you say. It is obvious that your goal is to put down one group....the people against ETJ, West Jefferson elected officials, Ashe, Ashe realtors.

In other words if they won't kiss your ****, they should not post here, right?

When all else fails (i.e. the lies and innuendo) call others names then everyone will believe in you and your whacky twist on reality.

I'm all eyes jjones. I am willing to try to see it from your perspective. Give some facts without name calling or taunting. Most intelligent people don't respond well to high school tactics. Tell us what has happened from your perspective, why it "MAY" be bad, why you feel the way you do about the issue and give examples. If you really want to gain credibility, name one thing that may in fact be good about said subject. Let's be adults.

There are people that are very angry in West Jefferson. I feel the same. You do so much to try to keep everything hanging on, while the ship is about to sink, and then the WJ aldermen vote for something that finally causes some to let the ship sink. I am no longer fighting to save this place. Just don't care. I see corruption and I see things that make me ashamed to live here. This use to be community, this use to be home. It feels like crap now.

Then the people that fight those that are opposed to ETJ just say same the SOS. If the city of WJ cared about the people, they would not take away their property rights. There was no growth, no reason to enact EJT. It was just a power grab by power hungry men. Men who get their rocks off on POWER. Wake up call for all....they do not care about the people. It is about them.

There are many tactics to "win" an argument. The tactics being used on this site, for the most part, are lies and fear to try to sway support. They want readers to blindly believe or be scared not to believe no matter what is typed. I would gamble that the majority of readers that have been reading this malarkey think that stating the facts would be the most persuasive. Instead, lies, lies and twisted facts have been employed because some of us have actually checked up on what has been posted and not taken this gossip and innuendo as reliable and credible information.

Facts are the best way to substantiate an argument, but lies apparently to those very few on here that are being the most vocal, is the next best thing. If the facts don't prove your point, make some up and that's exactly what's being done.

There are varying degrees of lies. A "fib" is a small exaggeration of the truth. A "hyperbole" is a larger exaggeration of the truth. A "lie" is a statement that has nothing whatsoever to do with the truth. A "big lie" is not only blatantly untrue but will cause your great grandmother to roll over in her grave with shame. The big lie is being utilized by 99% of these posts that oppose freedom of speech for anyone that doesn�t think the same or freedom of thought to form an educated opinion they don�t approve or agree with. Otherwise, these very nasty posters would state the facts and nothing but the facts so we could decide how we feel about the issue at hand. Just like any other issue where not many really care that strongly one way or the other, if the facts don�t support your cause then lie, lie and twist the facts to make others believe.

I think this person is real and mad. I guess people can't get the anger, but there are some who just don't care any more about Ashe county. In a way it does not matter what happens because he probably could not sell his property if he wanted to...could any of us right now? There is just something about taking people's rights....it is like the last straw for some. He probably feels like he helps the county, owns property, pays taxes, shops downtown etc. Now, sounds like he is giving up.

How many second home owners here have properties going in to foreclosure? Maybe that is happening to him.

junkie, That depends on if you have the wheels and axles off your house yet, and the size of the couch on your front porch.also it depends on the number of outbuildings you have. as for the number of seasonal

workers 10 or so if they are legal, up to 30 if they are not legal.

Techjunkie: At least if you rent your house out to seasonal workers they will be contributing to the economic health of Ashe County instead of tearing it down. You may even be support Huddler Tree farm in you efforts.

Hey straycat..now that my home near Buck mtn rd. is in ETJ, and since you want the 2nd home owners to leave Ashe, how many people can live in my house. How many people can I let rent it at the same time? Is there a rule by the town?

I was thinking about 10 or so seasonal workers at a time.

What is the rule for renting homes that are now in ETJ? I am zoned residential. What permits and fees would apply? Doubt straycat has the ability to answer so anyone jump in here.

onlyinashe, read more slowly. my original post was about coming here and finding out that my second home had been placed in the one mile ETJ. I call it forced zoning. My comments are about ETJ. In GA we do not have ETJ. I think not buying anything downtown is the right way to go!

Straycat...I will let people know that Ashe does not want second home owners here. That can be done easily. Think that you might miss the taxes paid to the county? Bite off the hand that feeds you stray and let us watch you just starve. Poor little puddy.
