I agree with Mr Lynn in is article Ashe. On Line. When you want the best for the job look for someone that has been part of the system. While Mr Howell worked at Sheriff`s office he was not an administrator. Sure his last gig there was over communications but that was because of his college degree in computers. mr Howell bounced from job to job in his time at Sheriff`s office. He never real excelled at any one job. Finally James Williams allowed him to go to dispatch even though he had never dispatched in his life. He was a computer person and never really dispatched. I know Mr Howell and like him and his whole family but he is not ready to lead a department of this size. Just because someone went to college does not make them a leader as some have suggested. If you go back to the shooting of Mr Howell neighbor and read the lawsuit that spelled out what happened you will see he had a large hand in what happened because he was giving wrong information to the responding officers and failed to lead them to the situation in a safe manner resulting in a blind and deaf mans death. Now what will happen if he was in total control of the Sheriff`s office.

Don't worry TUB'S my vote will cancel yours and the community of Creston feels just like me. As a matter of fact Williams lost the vote last time he ran in Pond Mountain, I look for the same results this election. Like several on here have said people are sick of this good ol boy crap! Vote for Howell if you want much needed change!

Tabby, your reading comprehension sucks. First of all, if you go back and find the official GA endorsements before the primary, you will see Howell got my endorsement. Secondly though, your bigger problem is you think everything is binary. But that’s not the case in the real world. Politics is about making a choice between a limited number of possibilities. No matter what happens, one of those possibilities will win. So even if you don’t love any of the choices, one of them will win. So you pick the best option available. And while I have previously voiced my views on how the House incident should have been handled differently, we still only have two choices. And after doing my research, I believe that Phil has not only had to live with what happened, but has learned from the event and grown as a professional from the experience. As I said already, live is fluid, not stationary.

Tabs we all can change our minds. Fins didn;t know of the lawsuit or the pictures prior. A whole lot has come to light since the primaries or even the shooting.

The majority of the residents on Gaither Poe road are registered Republicans, including the widow. I guess the 300k helped her to forgive...... and that's okay. So I don't really find it too surprising she has a Howell sign in her yard. What I do find surprising is Fins complete 180 on his criticism of Howell for his involvement in the Houck tragedy. I remember him criticizing his actions as recently as the primaries.

I like Bucky and he has always been fair and good to me. However, I like Phil and I feel that we need someone with educational qualifications and not the good ole boy influence. I'm voting for Phil.

I know people that are a kin to Bucky and know Bucky well that's going to vote for Howell. They say that they like Bucky and all but they feel that Howell's education & experience is superior to Bucky's "experience riding shirt-tails", in a good ole boy buddy system that should have ended years ago!! They also say the jail and department is a disgrace and that we need someone new to carry the County forward. Not just someone looking to pad their retirement with a badge

Some have tried to place the blame for the Houck incident entirely at the feet of Howell and say it makes him unqualified as sheriff. They like to ignore that Bucky was XO of the department and had a major part in department policies and training. But has anyone wondered how the family of the victim thinks about who is best qualified for sheriff? Well, I have. And what I have learned is they have a Phil sign in the front yard. The Houck family is voting against Bucky. That should tell you a lot.
