I am alive and well right here in Ashe County. I will not be caught because I planned it well and carried it out myself. Most of you see me on a regular basis and think nothing of it. And incidentally, I gave away virtually all of the money and used less than $1500.00 of it for my own use.

Yeah the FBI who convicted five men in the last six years of doing less than Hillary Clinton did, but chose not to charge her....
The more I think about it the more likely I believe it is that he switched the old bills for newer bills. It was a time that serial numbers weren't be checked as closely as the old bills were being destroyed. Even if a bank caught it they'd never admit to it after the fact and probably sent them on to be destroyed to get their credit.
However I don't think with most witnesses now dead and most assumed perpetrators likewise dead we'll ever really know who D. J. Cooper was.

Talk about bad luck if he is Cooper. To go this many years and not be caught, the FBI close the case and think "whew, I got away with it". And then have some busy body wanna be's catch you.

If I had to conjecture the 290 bills found separated from D.B. Cooper when he jumped or prior to him jumping. The fact no other bills have ever surfaced leads credence that any remaining physical evidence was destroyed in Mt. St. Helen's Eruption in May 1980 three months after those bills were found.
This doesn't mean that D. B. Cooper died in the jump.
There are three possibilities,
A) He left the money behind and survived, most contend that Cooper's goal was never really the money, only to stick it to the airlines (the man). B) He died in the jump, C) That he did survive and took the money with him, he then traded the bills for new bills that did not have the silver or gold standard on them, and the bills he hijacked were destroyed without the serial numbers ever being checked by the exchanging bank. This would require someone else to collude with him, and I consider it unlikely but it is possible however improbable.

I took it with me. Along with the money. Which is long gone but I had a great time while it lasted. II had a plan and I saw it through to the end with success.

He took the attache case with him. The only personal item he left was the clip on tie with the mother of pearl tie clip. It's possible that was an error, as he had recovered the original letter he presented to the stewardesses.

That is a good question. I couldn't find a quick answer.

So what supposedly happened to the bomb D B Cooper had on the plane? Was it left on the plane, or did he jump with it?
