Henaynei, What standard do you believe we are held to? In the end it does not matter what standard you think we are held to. Christ died for the sins of his people that is the finished work of God. We have all sinned and come short of the glories of God. Through Adam all men die and through Christ all are made alive.

Obviously you are a troll.

However Christ expounded that it was not sufficient to just refrain from violated the 10 Commandments in deed but one also had to refrain from thinking of doing them.

Circumcision is required to be a Jew, it is not required to be a Christian.
Since the coming of Christ, Christians believe the Law of Moses fulfilled, thus the dietary and other laws contained in it as well as animal sacrifice is no longer required. So a Christian can eat ham if he wants, it would be a sin for a Jew (or Muslim) to do so.

If you truly were interested in the differences you'd do some research of your own. Instead of trolling the internet you could actually go to various sites that explain the differences to you.

In so weighty an issue as salvation vs perdition does G-d leave us with a hazy list of right and wrongs such that we each individually define what those “numerous sins are?” Or has He provided explanation that all can be held to the same standard?

Also Jrscott - can you explain more clearly Jewish customs and Christian customs? I’m not clear on specifically to what you are referring?

So, jrscott
None of “Jesus’ commands” had been spoken before G-d sent him into the world to die to redeem us from the death penalty we incurred for violations/sins committed prior to (and after of course) His morning ministry and sacrifice.
What were those sins?

God counts disobedience to God as sin.

There are numerous sins. While the most famous in the Bible are the 10 Commandments and indeed most sins can be traced to one of those 10 there are also the commandments given before them to Adam, and then Christ expounds upon the 10 Commandments in numerous places from his Sermon on the Mount to many other places.

Let me ask...
From what are we saved?
What is it that we violated for which we received the death penalty?
How does G-d define sin?

Peter settled this is the meeting of the apostles covered in the book of Acts. It is not necessary for a man to be a Jew first before being baptized and it is not necessary for one to follow Jewish customs that are not also Christian customs.

Are you suggesting that we should follow the Jewish Law?

How, then, does the faith and practice of Jesus and His disciples (Judaism) impact our faith and practice?
