There is a Barney on trial starting tomorrow in Charlotte.

I wonder if a civil suit was ever filed in either Jackbooted johnny trooper case? Both were uncalled for, no life was in jeopardy. The story the Greensboro johnny trooper told he was chasing down a speeder hit and killed a lady going to church.

NC does not have recall laws. And as for the SBI investigation, well, look up how many LEO's involved in shootings or bystander deaths in NC that have ever been charged by the state or DA. The answer is zero, I believe. Even in the numerous cases where some Barney or Jackbooted thug was traveling in excess of 100mph responding to a call and killed someone in a wreck, none have been charged. There was a case in watauga on 421 where a trooper was in route to back up another trooper. He nearly killed a couple. He skated. There was a case near Greensboro where a trooper was in route to a call and hit someone pulling out at an intersection at the low side of a blind hill. The trooper knew the area well enough he should have known about the intersection. The bystander died. Johnny skated.

I agree that there are two sides to every story. This civil suit isn't a slam dunk. But certain facts listed are indisputable. One, Hippo yelled "I'll f'ing kill you!" Two, the Barney that lived across the road at no point told dispatch or the other LEO's about the descedent's handicaps.

Tommie, the suit is supported not only by a dash camera, but also by recorded conversations to the 911 center, barneys on the scene caught lying to the sbi, and neighbors. There is absolutely no defense for what he did that night along with Howell.

It's not an act. If you have enter acted with him and he has been respectful, it's because you presented yourself in an educated manner and didn't challenge him. It was likely because you were a victim, you did something minor like a traffic violation, or it was nothing more than a meaningless conversation you had in passing. Personally, I've had conversations with some of them and everything was fine and they joked around. But the underlying attitude came through if you paid attention. Especially if there was more than one of them. It was like a gang mentality started build in them.

I have read through the suit, but like anything else there is always two sides to the story. And it's not up to me to say which is right or wrong.

Have you ever considered that Hoppy is told to act that way because of the show. I mean take Pawn Stars for instance, another reality show, if anyone was as incompetent as Chumlee is portrayed on the show they would have been fired years ago. It's an act.

The few occasions I've had any dealings with Hoppy or anyone in law enforcement in the county they've always been respectful. Firm but respectful.

Runkle, that could become a reality for sure. Believe it or not he does have a fan following in Ashe thanks to the Southern Justice series. I have even encountered some of the locals wishing to obtain his autograph.

Sounds like you should have stayed in Boston since you are so obviously ashamed of Ashe County. Your obviously an implant any way because implants are the only people in Ashe that brag about how much money they make.

The voters of Ashe rejected a fat bully in the last election for sheriff. Hoppy would have even less chance than Winters.

If that ever happens, just turn the lights out and roll up the roads. The county would be done for sure.
