Come on now----you are basing your discussion on a book written over 2000 years ago. God and Jesus are long gone. Be honest and tell us the real truth that you are doing what the preacher tells you each Sunday.

I'm well aware that the church is the people. You do it your way and I will do it the way God instructs me.

I once heard of a low life baptist preacher pointing out people in the church and scolding them for not giving enough money. They were of little means. He should have toted an *** whooping.

You people are brain washed sheep that can be lead by one preacher to the slaughter shed.

The early churches met in caves, homes, in secret. There was no "Church" to tithe to. The Church was and is the people. We have eroded the teachings until we no longer can see the truth.

Tithing, you gave 10% of your crops and livestock to the temple.

Its funny how that has profited religious organizations. Including Paul who said I profited much in the Jews religion.

I will do as Christ said. We are not under the Law, first off the law was given to the Jews and I am not a Jew. Christ never mentioned Tithing once, nor did Paul, or anyone in the New Testament era.

It was exactly what heels said "a dog and pony show". You people just lined the pockets of a jim baker. He talks real smooth and cleans your wallets. Money you could donate to a outreach that would actually help someone and not pay for the fancy slick preachers caddy.

I will tithe my money like the Bible says to. I have in my church to use it for God's will.

No matter how you spin it, the money came from individuals. Money distorts the word of God. People need to realize God doesn't need your money.

Jesus purged the temple of the money changers, I pray that it happens again.

You can believe what you want. As for me I believe it was God's work. If God had not wanted the money that people give to their churches to be used for this then it wouldn't have happened. An offering plate wasn't passed around at the event.

I didn't say poor people. I said hard working. So where did the church's get the money? I know it didn't appear. Sorry, there's nothing that will make me believe this was Gods work. It was for the glory of a few people.

Heels have you ever heard him speak? He is a man of God. Monet taken from poor people? No money was taken from any individual. The churches who helped bring him here had the choice weather or not to do so. There were lots of people praying for God's will on this.

Follow the money. There was nothing about this that could convince me that it was more than a show. Do you think God was impressed? I think God was more impressed by the friend visiting and giving their money to those in need, the nurse hugging a stranger that just lost a loved one, or the little child praying nothing else bad happens to them.

This "Extravaganza" was for the glory of man. Just look at the website if the speaker. He would take money to speak to anyone and I guarantee he would change that message in a heartbeat to get more money. He is all about me.... Look what I have done. There is no telling how much it cost to get him here. Money of hard working people wasted.

If you want a revival, pray that God sends it. You don't need to make it up on your own.

Many people who aren't believers are ashamed to walk into a church, either due to their past or that they don't have fancy clothes. They feel more comfortable where they can be casual. It doesn't matter where or how they become a believer. It isn't if a preacher is doing his job or not. Do you see what I'm saying?

Dog......some preachers may be like you say......but i personally know many who work regular full time jobs to pay their bills and need no money from the church. The money they receive goes for traveling to visit the folks in hospitals and nursing homes. It goes many times to the needy as they often give money to ones in need right out of their pocket. I know this because I have witnessed it personally. I am not arguing that your side does not have validity either. But, not every garbage man is a good garbage man either. Not every doctor is a good doctor either. Not every cashier is a good cashier either. You can't stereotype the many for the fault of the one....or two!

Like I said....if they don't believe the truth when it is spoken to them locally then what is it about an evangelist on a stage with amps, speakers and ferns going to do for the truth. I once heard a preacher say if you lure them into the church with a hotdog someone will lure them back out with a hamburger. Don't get me wrong I'm for our community coming together and having a big revival like the one last week but I just think we need to look to our own spiritual leaders for the message. If the real message isn't in our churches already then what are the new converts going to do after the big horse and pony show packs up and leaves??? You can't save someone from drowning and then throw them back into the water and expect them to swim.

Duh I can back up every bottle and every woman with facts. I left out the hands in the church cookie jar stealing from the church banking accounts. Dont give me the few bad apples either.

A preacher does nothing on sunday morning but stand before you and try to scare the living s***t out of you so he can keep his job, get you to support him and his family while he laughs at you all week working your tail off to support him.

Did I say that? No. I was just saying there might be a few, but do you see them forming this type of event for our county. I totally believe in the Word of God. I do accept what it says however there are many in this county that don't. So why not knock something that might help somebody believe duh-huhhh?

Dog you are right I admit.....not many preachers do their work for free. I actually know a few who do preach and serve their church for free. The ones who do receive offerings for their efforts usually are well deserved though. Most, not all, put in many hours of service to their church and neighbors that go far beyond a weekly Sunday morning message. As far as your booze and adultry opinions, I would expect no less of a comment from you as I know you just can't help yourself.

So let me get this straight hiker......our local clergymen aren't of high enough standards for you or our county? Is the word of God preached by local preachers as it is written not good enough for you or Ashe county? Are you saying Gods word needs changing? Changing for what, to better suit your feelings or opinions? If you are looking for spiritual renewal you aren't going to find it in change around you......it has to be change within you. I don't know what was said at the crusade......it may have all been God ordained......if it was then I'll bet you got the same messages from the crusade that the local ministers deliver to us all the time. Maybe folks need to stop looking for change and accept the teachings and warning God has already sent us. There is a reason for the same messages being received over and over......it's because someone isn't listening!
