Some of you posters keep saying we can trust Mochen. It seems every day at least one of those posters gets caught in a lie. You guys remember that guy......moved here thirty years ago......married local. You remember ......lot of people thought he was a good guy. You remember ......Freddie Hammer. Face it , we know more about the stray cat we find on our porch than we know about Mochen.

I did not make anything up. Mochen is a puppet. Bought and paid for. Nelson and Co. want their own Sherriff. I am sure the good people of Ashe do not share in this "vision" of theirs.

I thought Sassy was a Absher supporter.

**** (Sassy) why do you continue to slam Mr. Mochen? Mochen has not said one negative word about your candidate. It's easy to sit and hide behind an alias and post crap that you made up in your head. You don't know where the money came from that financed Mr. Mochen's campaign. In fact Mr. Mochen asked all of his supporters not to criticize any of the other candidates. Do you really want to continue this war? I can think of a few things that Mr. Howell does not want spread around. We will continue to honor Mr. Mochen's wishes and not slam your candidate, however if it continues, I will start my own personal campaign against your candidate. Enough is Enough! By the way, I know a few things about you that you don't won't gossiped about.

Note from GoNC: the **** above denotes a small portion of this post that was removed for libel.

Hey, Deplorable, how much does it cost to buy a candidate for Sherriff? It is 2018. The price of everything keeps going up. How much did Mochen cost?

MOchen's website is a joke, Howell by far has the best website, and is far more qualified than Mochen.

go to the headquarters go to the websites, study your candidates and then make an informed decision you are worthless if you let anyone else decide your vote this is your one chance to vote as an unaffiliated you get to choose are you supporting Mochen or Howell or Hendrix, but please do NOT vote if you have not studied each candidate and made a well informed decision, to so shows your ignorance

It is my opinion that Williams and now Hartley put professionalism first. Buchanan was against it because he viewed people who knew how to do the job as a threat. The only " good ole boy " network I have seen is the three corrupt commissioners and the county manager. Perry, Rose, Roark and Yearick put themselves before the citizens for over a year. With the resignation of Roark the personal agenda has come to an end. Sands, Rhodes and McNeill now vote for what is best for the people of Ashe. We need to elect two more in the next two elections that will put the people first.

The good ole boys club is still in office taking place as we speak. Bucky rode Williams coat tail. I don't think he can handle it on his own. We'll see.

And I would not for Howell.

Don't tell me that you are all about training when you were heavily involved with training your first go around at the SO and it was as messy as it was.
And what job has been promised to the former narcotics captain? He's been seen actively supporting Howell. What is that quid pro quo going to work out to?
Take into consideration what the agenda and the ability of each of these candidates truly is. You might just find yourself voting for a younger good ol' boys club that merely broke away from the original.

I'll vote for Howell any day over Bucky.

Yep, it's Ashe Countys favoritism at its best. Offer jobs based on blood and popularity... Not on skill and knowledge. Bump people with connections into jobs that never existed..

So if anyone but Bufurt pulls that job shuffling stunt (be it for revenge, favoritism, more votes, etc..), then its ok.
Wow, sounds a bit hypocritical.

About the only way Bucky gets my vote in November is if Mochen is running against him. I think Howell is a much more qualified candidate.

After learning the identity of the new SO employee and also learning the former employee was "bumped" just to make a slot available, I have to say I am very disappointed. But it shouldn't really come as a surprise, it seems you have to know someone or have connections to get any desirable job anywhere in Ashe County.

Also, several of the employees who recently returned to reclaim their old jobs, were being transferred to another job within the SO by Buchanan when they decided to leave.

But whatever the reason for hiring a new person, still, the former employee still had a job. They weren’t fired or forced to quit. That was all I was correcting. Personally, if this person really has a family to feed, I don’t understand quiting, even if they didn’t like the transfer. Keep the job until you find something else.

Nepotism or whatever you call it. The.'good ol'boys' take care of their own. Ordinary Ashe County Citizens can't just walk in and get a job without a connection.. If you have a connection, it doesn't matter if you just got out of bed, brushed your teeth, if you have teeth, combed your hair, if you have hair... You'll be hired! ....LMAO. I just wished we had a bigger selection of candidates.

That Don't Impress me Much

Posted 5:36 pm, 04/13/2018

If the person isn't related to anyone working there now I don't see how you can allege nepotism.

TheBookhouseBoy

Posted 2:45 pm, 04/13/2018

Kinda splitting hairs there. However, that person was offered another position AFTER they gave their original job to the family member of a former ACSO employee.

By no means fired but really treading a thin line with that dreaded "good ol' boy" mentality and sorta playing it fast and loose in the area of nepotism.
