Actually Bull is not correct. He tried to say the employee was fired or forced to leave. Thats not true by a long shot. They were offered another position and decided to leave on their own.

Olejoe, curious to know. Was the toothless one there? Did she really get dentures?

I'm sorry, Bull. You were correct and I was wrong about an employee leaving the SO this week.

I'm largely against the War on Drugs, it along with the War on Poverty have actually been two of the worst federal programs ever. More people use drugs today than when it started, and just as many people are in poverty as there were when that started. Both have been used as an excuse to destroy many families. Prohibition didn't work in the 20s, still doesn't work. We waste billions trying to prohibit something that just over a 100 years ago were legal. We could end the power of the drug cartels in Mexico and most of the power of inner city gangs if we just legalized all drugs and taxed them just like everything else.

There WAS an employee replaced recently- so Bull IS correct. Out of respect for that employee, there is no need to go about mentioning their name. I am sure this is hard enough for them anyway.

When I dropped off some unused meds at the SO Thursday, the guy at the reception window had been replaced with a young blonde girl. Don't know when or why that happened.

I guess our boy Bull is not going to give us the name of this recently fired deputy. The reason for that , I am guessing, is because their is no name. My sources at the SO say no one has been fired or left in he last few weeks. Once again, the Bufurt/ Mochen supporters will tell any lie, any time, to advance their cause. How could anyone expect to win an election when the people that back them can not be trusted?

You are right on Captain. I hope people can see through his agenda.

While back, I said that Mochen "seemed" honest, a likeable guy who didn't seem to support Buchanans ideas or his way of running the department while working under him.

That is 100% true. That said, I am 95% sure that I will NOT put a check by his name this election. Here is why,

1. Politicians are typical liars.

2. Who's to say that he wasn't planning a run for Sheriff while working under Buchanan and my impression of him wasn't imprinted based on his hidden political desire to run for Sheriff?

3. OF all the people running, we know Mochen the least. My impression of him thus far is good but I can't actually say I know the man.

To claim that he will make a great Sheriff would be a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment on anyone's part. (That holds true for anyone backing him at this point)

sassy62

If Mochen were really honest and fair he would campaign on the promise to investigate Perry,Rose, Roark, and Yearick for corruption.

sassy62

Posted 8:57 am, 04/12/2018

Another point, Bull. Mochen's accepeptance of Perry showing up at every public event and campaigning for him shows a huge lack of judgement on his part. Support from one of the corrupt does not help his image at all.

You can guarantee it huh? Well Bully, so far your word has proven to have no credit. You aren’t even willing to list a name. If they worked at the sheriff’s department, their name is public info. And if they left or were terminated, that is also public info. The fact that you are unwilling to list a name would suggest you are a liar.

Who was this guy that was such a great deputy and family man? We have asked you like 10 times. Who got fired this week? Or is this something else you are just making up because it would seem to help your cause? Like your claim that Mochen is honest. Were you living with him in Florida for the last 60 years? He has not been here long enough for anyone to really know if he is honest. He could be as crooked as Bufurt. Nobody knew that fool either.

I can guarantee he was a good employee and so was the others that was let go. It’s time for a major change! Elect a Sheriff that knows how to treat people fair, that will be Steve Mochen...

onlyinashe, ok... let's tell the whole story. So the teenage son was drinking and had a couple of wrecks? Anyone else get hurt?? Why was the teen having a trial by jury?

And, No - I don't think harassing jury members in an attempt to sway the verdict was the best for his family.

A man lost his job and his families insurance when a local plant closed. His wife had cancer and he could no longer afford her medication. After selling off most their stuff, he resorted to selling a partial bottle of pain meds that he had been prescribed for an abscessed tooth a year prior.

He was arrested and charged. (Although there is only a miniscule of actual heroin/opiates in a single pill, the entire pill which is comprised of fillers was weighed and his charges were based on the weight.)

He was just raising money for his wife's cancer medication.

While locked up, they forclosed on their home. His wife died and just before his release, their only child was killed in a car wreck.

Although the man had a good record & reputation up until he sold 10-15 pills.

He wasn't given a welcome home party by Hartley. Instead, he felt harassed by local officers whom labeled him as a drugie following his arrest a couple of years prior..

Since he wasn't a 'good ol' boy, he didn't even feel welcome in the county he and his family once called home. He ended up leaving the County where he managed to get his life together again.

jscott, your right. Had she broke the law, it certainly would have been grounds for dismissal. However, to my understanding, she didn't do anything wrong but take a job that she felt compelled to take. Those refusing to take a promotion under Bufurd was looked at as being against him. Ask Mickey. 😀 I heard that he hated the jail but was asked to take it over while he investigated the jailers.

If in following orders she broke the law, then that is grounds for dismissal, contrary to what you might hear on TV or the Movies....

Midnight, Why don't you tell the rest of the story surrounding Mr. Yates' arrest and conviction, a teenage son grieving the loss of a mother to cancer, wrecking a car and a father attempting to do the best he could for his family.

PS... Jscott & Sassy. From what several employees said, The one he fired in my example hadn't done anything wrong. She was hired under Williams. She remained working after William's retired and Buchanan took office. She didn't really want to get promoted but took the title out of fear of losing her job. Then a short time later Bucky/Hartley came along and fired her NOT because she didn't do as told but because she done everything she was told.

On Monday, March 12, 2001. George Edward Yates, 49, appeared on charges of four counts of communicating with jurors, two counts of conspiracy to communicate with jurors, two counts of aiding and abetting to communicate with jurors and two counts of solicitation to commit perjury.

After a few months in Prison, Mr. Yates returned to his home in Ashe County NC. His biggest surprise came from Ashe County Sheriff, Jim Hartley. He along with his deputies (Bucky?) threw Yates a "Welcome Home" party that will never be forgotten.

>>~ ~That.is the Good Ole Boy System in Ashe~~<<

I am not sure if the "good ol' boy" system is what Ashe County needs going forward which is what we currently have under Hartley and that is exactly what we will get under Bucky.

I openly supported Williams & Bucky and advocated for the removal of Buchanan.

This election, I hope we get a refreshing change for once. It's not that I want to go against Bucky who is admirable for his years of service, but when he fired one long time employee & replaced her with the 'toothless one' just because of connections.... I was reminded of a humble, undeniable and indefensible Truth.

Ashe County really needs a change.
