Heard this morning that the Sheriff was retiring effective in December.

I wouldn't count them out yet.....

His logic seems flawed. I mean the county did elect Williams, a Democrat, one could perhaps argue that the people wanted the Sheriff to be of a different party than the County Commissioners.

Our department is so small though that I don't see what you could do, sure you could make everyone a sergeant but then it just becomes a meaningless title.

I'm surprised the honor club commander and wifey are not wanting their turn too.

I hope the commissioners appoint Bucky Absher to finish out James Williams term. For them to appoint one of their buddies to give him the benefit of incumbency is just political BS. Of course, no one expects fair dealing from Roark or Rose. Roark always has some political machinations going on and Rose is perfectly happy to follow him.

One of Buchanan's complaints is that there is no room for advancement in the lower ranks of the department. I would like to hear his remedy for that in such a small department. What is he going to do? Make everyone a sergeant or lieutenant? And as for the alleged internal conflicts, anytime you have more than one employee there is going to be disagreement. And the two that left went elsewhere for much more money and chances for advancement. Just sounds like sour grapes and typical political disparagement to me. Just what we do not need.

This ought to be a good Monday morning show.

No one ever answered up about that debacle did they? I'm quite sure we were right about the acquisition and installation of the equipment on their pretend official vehicles. Heads should have rolled. If it was on the up and up, the great pretenders of the honor club would have produced the paper trail to prove us wrong. But, alas, we are still right on the money.

Lets mention again how the honor club commander got the radios and the cars. I really thought by now he may make himself a general of the honor club.

......and that is another thing. His participation in that fantasy gratification thing they try to pass off as an Honor Guard. Nothing more than a club of wannabe's and wishiwases. Makes it clear what he really is about. Get dressed up and look like a doorman at the San Juan PuertoRico Hilton Hotel. Goofy, pure and simple.

Wifey sure does think highly of me.

I'm not sure if she is his worst enemy or not. Those photos of him wearing that honor guard uniform trying to play dress up pretend policeman don't help him any either.

She is her hubby's worst enemy. If he could only control her outbursts he would do better.

Pipe dream? Stranger things have happened in Ashe, so at this point I'm not ruling anything out.

I can't believe that woman is still beating the drums for her hubby and complaining about the Sheriff. Mr Tim needs to put the muzzle on her again i think. You would think that at least one of her friends if she stil has any, would hold her hand and remind her to breath deeply, regularly, and relax. And then try to just let this Sheriff Timmy pipe dream go.

While Sheriff Williams has certainly been far more ethical and moral than say Sheriff Goss ever was, it probably is time for him to retire. However I'm sure some of the pressure he spoke about in his announcement is related to the Hopkins cases.

Absher might finish out William's term but I doubt he would take the job full time if it was offered to him..After 35 years one would think Absher should be ready for retirement as well.

Two years ago, given the choices, people didn't care if Williams might retire before his term ended. What they didn't want was Winters wearing the high sheriff badge. That would have been worse than giving Barney 6 bullets.

Heard today that Keith Little was also retiring in March. Not soon enough. Also that the mouth breathers had hired a person to collect back taxes. Idiots dont realize dead people dont pay taxes. Most all surrounding counties do a tax foreclosure.

The county manager said he was amazed at the planes using the landing strip. His only example was when scouts came to Oak hill. That place pays how much in taxes to Ashe county? The landing strip does not charge for take offs or landings.

For continuity, they should give it to Bucky Absher, if he would take it. I do not think he is much interested in even holding the job until the next election. Jeff Rose would love to have it, but he would have to resign from the BOC first. Finding someone that can manage and lead with honor and integrity and has the ethical and moral character that James always displayed is going to be a challenge.

Tim still driving around in that old, used cop car pretending to look like a cop? Whenever I see that white road boat I think blue light bandit.
