The Hot Spot....sounds like a name for a gathering place for hookers or wh*res.

I doubt he will get a lot of credit here. Most of the people here have a firm grip on reality. I base my statements on facts instead of feelings.

He'll do just fine as long as he does things and he should, unlike the previous lame attempt by the last guy selling stoves etc. who was goo at collecting money but fell a bit short when it was time to deliver products. As for the look of the building, neat, clean, orderly, and maintained should be the order of the day. There are lots of "architecturally correct" buildings that haven't seen a coat of paint or a bit of maintenance in 20 or more years up and down the street. Some re passable at street level but upper floors no. Broken windows and neglect and it hurts everybody. This guy deserves credit, not criticism.

Time will indeed tell.

I say the business will not be profitable.

Is that all you all can come up with to discuss how ugly a building is? Not everyone has the same taste in architecture.. Who knows it might prove to be a profitable business in Ashe...No matter what the building looks like....I highly doubt the storefront would turn away customers, if the business has the items desired by the customers.. As usual time will tell....

Its still an ugly building whoever owns it.

it's an ugly a** building. RG you will learn that this is the only place where the truth comes out, and the real news is posted. There is NOTHING to be jealous about concerning that "business". It will be a thing of the past soon, it has no chance.

I don't like the exterior design of the building and it almost makes a case for WF adopting some sort of design controls.

Not every building needs to look the same, but this is not a case of someone trying to reinterpret international style or mimic Le Coubesier. It's just out of place in WJ.

But the sad truth is that there are a lot of ugly building in WJ including those with corrugated metal so perhaps the real issue is that it's a newly present ugly building that makes it stand out. Perhaps it's the faux interpretation of a modern hearth on the front that stabs the eye? Or perhaps the use of a shade of reddish, orange that reminds me of a 1960's Ronald McDonald.

Before I lump architectural criticism on the Hot Spot, I have to look at it's cross-street neighbor - should the Presbyterian Church be held to account for an ugly, cheap sign in front of it's church. That sign is stylistically out of place. but more than that, it just looks cheap next to the new front, which looks pleasing.

I don't understand all the hubbub over the owner or the chain of title, etc. If you are really interested the Secretary of State lists the corporation as being in place from 1981 in Bland Co, Va, NW of Wythville and due north of Rural Retreat. DB and Page is 368/1248, but why does that matter the Registrars office doesn't show a change in title since 2007, although the Rich Dairy Incorporation in NC was December of last year.

Perhaps I am missing something but anyone who bought a building in 2007 would have been smart not to pump money into it until after the depth of the most recent depression had passed and that would correspond to last winter. Before I did anything with it, I would want to be incorporated. Never undertake anything akin to a business without incorporation or you can lose everything.

A lot of folks need something that loses money, can be shown to depreciated, or in most years, can be ridden like a family farm. I know a lot of folks who buy their family groceries through their business.

Hopefully the place will be successful, and if it makes money, some of that can be used to remodel the front in 6-8 years.

Obviously i have underestimated the IQ of some of the users on this site..maybe its just utter jealousy or pure ignorance that makes you pass judgement on hard working honest people. I really find it humorous that you make the statement that they ****..really funny..but just so you know they make an honest living working for it..something maybe you may not be accustomed to yourself..so whenever you feel like gossiping about someone's business or personnel affairs maybe you should get your facts straight...loved the deed search BTW...priceless

Contrary to your opinion the contemporary design has received numerous compliments and as in any case not everyone is gonna like the same thing..but definitely have had overwhelming amount of compliments and excitement over the building design and color..what would you prefer? Green awning and wood siding?

We'll they should have hired a different architect. The building is pretty darn ugly.

RG111

FYI..No The Hot Spot is not affiliated with any previous owners or persons whom use to sell the same products. The Hot Spot is owned by a contractor whom as we speak has two other jobs going on in two different counties and works on the remodel of the building as time allows..

Note from GoAshe: a portion of this post was removed that was in response to the earlier libel.

I see the Juanita GeXXXXXX sale and have found the same name on Golf Course Road West Jefferson.

Woodstove was recently from Virginia - more correctly from a federal facility near Norfolk - He originally lived on 163- went to Beaver Creek High School - his dad was a POW in WW2 - he was warden of the prison up Buffallo and his mother worked for years at Twin City Chevolet. He dropped out of ASU in the late 1970's and took up a dual career of championship wrestling and drinking cheap whiskey.

Do I remember correctly that wood stove was from Virginia and went back there after the last joint closed?
