Anyone that want the house can buy it after the original owner has refused it. They normally run 5% plus a bond to make sure you clean up the land down to the slab.
The house in question sold to the state for $324,590 so you can get your mini blinds and curtains for $16,229 plus the bond.

I guess you want the price of the road to double as well since that is what would happen.

I think the house's should be used for people who are homeless . Make them work for them just like the habitat for humanity . All the wood they are chipping up and cutting down could be put in a ware house and used for the elderly or disable this winter. Instead of writing fuel checks if they have wood stoves give them a load of wood. Use them fuel checks for other things.

It's a highway to nowhere for you because you have no plan on going anywhere with your life.

That is a great idea to recycle the usable stuff rather than just junk it.

I doubt it most of that stuff goes to the contractor that is tearing down the houses. They resell the good items for a little extra money. However you can call Carol Green the NC DOT right of way agent at 336-657-0422 and see.

I've noticed more and more houses becoming vacant along 221 due to the road construction. Some of them still have curtains, mini-blinds, etc. up. Does anyone know if ReStore or any group is going to be able to come in and take usable items from these houses? I noticed that the house below Norman Cheek's is abandoned, and the garage doors look brand new. I just think it's a shame if the state just demolishes this stuff.
