You're right, it wasn't one. It was three. Thurmond, Helms, and Goldwin. At the moment I forgot Helms and Goldwin. The rest stayed with the Democrat party. Don't buy into the rewriting of history

I'm not arguing the rampant racism of the Democratic Party prior to the mass exodus of the Dixiecrats post civil rights movement. You're just completely ignoring the Southern Strategy, and claiming only one Dixiecrat jumped ship afterwards? Hmm.
No Medicare for all does not appeal to me, but then again, I can only see the doctors my insurance company allow me to see so I don't have real choice and I can only get the procedures that the insurance comapny allows me to have. Hmm - private insurance company telling me when to live or die or the government. That's a quandry.
Green New Deal - since when do House Freshman run anything? America's oil comapnies have heavily invested in green technologies - I wonder why. Why are they pissed at Trump? A Green New Deal will not save the planet. But it will help to keep the United States out of some regional conflicts over oil or give us some additional leverage. Foreign and national security policy hidden as economic policy?
American women are not reproducing enough kids to replace the population. They only group of women producing more than 2.1 children are immigrant women and they stop working overtime by the third generation. If US population rates decline, what happens to economic demand and the value of things. Japan, Russia and some other nations have this problem now.
Some aspects of Sharia law are crazy but so are some aspect of Judaic law. Since no one is proposing to run America according to Sharia, who keeps telling this lie? The only time it has been applied in this country has been to married islamists seeking a divorce under the laws to which they were married.
If Christmas tree workers are sick and infect locals are we better off if no one cut the trees or white people were hired to cut the trees at twice the rate? Sick people cost society money. The most immediately effective things is to kill the sick people, unless you value people.
Jack - I remember when Republicans were fairly logical but tight with a dollar. The current breed of Republican is like a ic, Bible thumping, troglydyte, not a well reasoned person with conservative social and economic values.
