Is Donald a legitimate President?

I know what you wrote, and you are incorrect because you failed to look at how it initially worked and how it was regularly adjusted, just like the House of Representatives. And I never said anything about party.

Even drunk I’m ahead of you idiots.

Fins you must be hitting the bottle.

Go back and read what I wrote.

The electoral college is designed to give greater weight to small population states, not one party or another. That's what I wrote, and what I demonstrated using MATH.

Lurker is misleading with that whole rant, claiming the electoral college was intended to give one side an advantage over the other. The reality is, yes it was really intended as a save guard over the ignorant masses electing the wrong person. But being the numbers are based on the numbers in Congress, it was also intended to provide balance, like the House of Representatives. But because of the over crowding of the House, Congress has not voted to adjust the number of representatives (and electoral votes) in something like 70years.

You know, I just wrote a nice political science piece explaining how we got here and how Trump's "illegitimacy" stems not just from not winning the popular vote but other factors that he does not control and for some reason it has to be reviewed. Why is that?

Jack, that's what I said. California is shorted 7, Texas 4 and Florida 2 for a net of 1 Democratic Electoral vote short.

Jack, Texas is the second most populous state and growing fastest.

In the last election Clinton got about 3 million more votes. But the electoral system is set up to disproportionately give weight to small states. The result is that Wyoming, Vermont, Alaska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Montana get 2 more electoral votes than their population merits. That's usually 10 to Republicans and 2 to Democrats. Rhode Island, Hawaii, New Hampshire, and Maine get an extra vote each their population does not merit and that is often a 2-2 split, but lately has been 3-1 Democratic or even 4-0.

That means low population Republican and Democratic states only give a Republican advantage of 4-8 electoral votes

Conversely, the system takes as many as 7 votes from California, 4 from Texas, and 2 from Florida. Based on recent elections that's usually just a 1 vote Democratic advantage. All in all the electoral college skews to small states, but produces only a slight Republican advantage.

The purpose of the Electoral College was to prevent a demagogue or British or French agent from becoming President. In this case there was no information out there for them to act on except Trumps crude behavior and lack of experience. You need compelling evidence for the Electoral College to act against the outcome of our system.

He’s as legitimate as GWB, Benjamin Harrison, Rutherford B. Hayes and JQ Adams - well accomplished, respected leaders.

Were it not for the electoral college California, Illinois, and New York would control the outcome of every election.

Yes he is. He got the most votes. That’s legitimate

Just to clarify, and be accurate, Trump won the Electoral College. Clinton won the popular vote.
