He knew he could not win and as a convicted felon could never work as an LEO again. I can not imagine any one would hire him now, even without the conviction.

Then why didn't bufurt fight them in court and prove the charges were wrong?

Actually the signed agreement only says both sides agree that Buchanan admits no wrongdoing, not that they themselves believe such.
