Ashley, sweetie, no one said Rebel Yell is a classy bourbon, jack said it's not a cheap bourbon. First of all, classy isn't really a term used to review spirits. Several years ago the distillery that makes Rebel Yell started reworking their image. Rebel Yell is now around $26 a fifth. That's on par with Buffalo Trace. And most critics rank it somewhere in the low 70's on a scale of 100. So it's not great, but it's not rot gut. Their Rebel Yell 100 scores a little higher. Around the mid 80's. It's a decent sipping bourbon. By comparison, Blanton's (which sells for more than double the price) scores an 89 from The Whiskey Jug.

Tourist trap is a valid term. The fact that your parents didn't understand the term and use it correctly doesn't change that. The more you talk, it is obvious the less you actually know.

More to the point, why aren't Ned Tanner and the rightfully legendary Skillet Lickers not a postage stamp?

And what have you coma victims been doing to right this wrong?

It will come down to newcomers like myself to preserve this vital culture that seems to go virtually begging down here.

I am proud to have been to Dollywood (an obvious tourist trap, AmIRight?) and supped from that very Honda-sized skillet.

During a southern gospel convention. Which people from new york just call white gospel. It's a big ol' world, and it all ought enjoyed.

And what of NC bluegrass pioneers, Ned Tanner and the Skillet Lickers?

If I could have licked Dolly's skillet, I would have. Take that any way you want.

And just what the hello is wrong with going to Dollywood and eating out of an oversize iron skillet? Careful here, your high brow ways are showing....

Jamaica, Caymans, Punta Cana, Puerto Vallerta, etc... I made at least part of my living for years traveling to these places with various groups. I negotiated their airfares, their hotel rates, activities & planned their ground transport, meals & parties. These were either rich folks or lucky folks (but mostly rich). Its called being a meeting or event producer/planner and I was paid very well. It sounds wonderful & glamorous in concept but truthfully - it was work, plain and simple. 24/7 stressful work.

Btw, Punta Cana was the worst - don't ever go there! One of my group got so sick (by eating a single unclean grape) that I had to escort them to a local "tourist" hospital via ambulance. I watched another sick tourist die right in front of me that day and then had to negotiate getting my client out of this hellhole. The hospital only wanted to charge more money for an additional overnight once they were well. It was awful - as in pulling out IV tubes and screaming at them to let us go against medical advice awful.

Don't question my travel knowledge or expertise fins, I used to live or die by it. Now I only travel for fun, thankfully.

Tourist trap is something that hicks who don't really travel say.

It's like a complaint that my long deceased parents would have; like: "That West Jefferson has an Olive Oil Store. What a tourist trap". Just about the most content-free whiny complaint a gormless no hoper could bleat out.

I am going to go out on a limb and predict that those Cayman Island and Bermuda sojourns were cruise ship stops. Not actual visits. As befits these Junior Samples lookalikes.

If anyone here thinks Rebel Yell is a classy drink, I look forward to swilling from a pint bottle swathed in a brown paper bag with them.

Let me get in first with the first yeeee-hah.

Fins, I feel sure you either visited Montego Bay or Negril in Jamaica. I've been to both of them and didn't enjoy those trips nearly as much as this one. Port Antonio is nothing like those places. I never felt threatened nor was I treated badly. The locals were all extremely welcoming and kind.

I've also been to the Caymans a few years back for a work trip. I stayed in a 5 star hotel and it was nice but so boring - it could have been any beachfront hotel in the US.

Rebel Yell is not a cheap liquor, try Bartons or Candain Mist for the cheap stuff. btw if you are going to drink use the good stuff.

We don't drink cheap liquor. And Jamaica is a tourist trap. It's a great place if you want to be raped, robbed, or just treated like an ATM machine. If I want islands, I'll stick with the Caymans. Or, Bermuda is nice too. But never again to the Caribbean ghetto.

Let me ask you drunk old shut ins -what's the best cheap bourbon available at ABC?

This seems like a Rebel Yell crowd. I like the song, but not that swill.

-Have been all over the carib but Jamaica is the best. Mountains, deep spiritual vibe, amazing music. If they weren't all a darker shade of dark there, I'd swear it was Ashe County with a tan.

And not one mention of Trump except for our driver who can't understand why he (Trump) married an immigrant - bit HATES immigrants in our country,...and sure Melania is pretty but so what?

This young man was more well spoken and well educated than 80- 90 % of you folks. I tried to explain Trump's racism - Trump's dog whistle to the outmoded, butt sore, white skin people & how they (the Jamaicans and other dark skinned people from many nations are seen as being from "****hole" countries without cause) It's maddening to them, they are smart, hard working and cannot come here now, thanks to our absolutely ridiculous leader. We were the only Americans there and the Euros there agreed with our assessment - our man isn't fit or competent for the most powerful job on earth. They can't vote but we are a global community now, like it or not!

The place I went was so poor they had no ice for rum and coke and a good white wine was impossible to drink. Cigs were sold individually or by the half pack.

My "Spanglish" sucks Fins other than your basic holla and pour favor, etc, I don't speak much southern English like here anymore due to training from my diligent mother who was strict about proper pronunciation I have visited our South America neighbors a time or three but I was a student of French back in the day (anyone remember the wonderful Madam Kirby?). NWA's? After 25 years away & with mama's influence, I sound flat midwestern,

I'm back from my glorious Jamaican holiday full of appreciation of this other culture in our world and of course for love of my beloved homeland as well. I had a great time with total immersion in the local jungle culture of Jamaica & drinking the local rum, meeting the local people and enjoying a different world view from our own. We stayed in the jungle with not a single American tourist - only some European types and that's it. I am as Nixon - tan, fit and rested.
