I forgot this yesterday but the clubs have fought being audited tooth and nail. Auditors are how thieves are caught and I read weekly about the auditors finding a thief from churches to county governments. Its our tax money they are stealing and using and it should be audited.

Maybe the legislature should look into passing a law requiring audits of fire clubs.

That's what I'm saying. They need two signatures. They aren't doing it now. The theft issues has been because people could write checks to themselves.

2 people signing helps but theft can still go on and the check does not have to be made out to one of the two who can sign to be embezzlement. It can be made out to a business or a school or a contractor. And UnderDog said theft has been found at 3 fire departments so doesn't look like the signature thing is happening anyway.

But the odds of getting two other people to sign a check made out to you so you can embezzle something is extremely low odds

I would say two signatures would be what they all should be doing, however I see Shucks point if the check signers are butt buddies and in it together. Well shucks it only leaves 2 other departments that had thieves.

The two signatures is a very good idea. Costs little/nothing and creates a much more secure system.

No I'm not talking about Todd.

Somebody got up on the wrong side of the bed.

Shucks are you talking about the old Todd fire club bunch?

And you clearly don't understand embezzling. The checks don't have to be written to one of the people signing the check dumb***. They can be written to a university to pay for tuition for one of their kids as a department scholarship. And don't bother saying that won't happen - it did. ****y little know it all .

You clearly aren't informed as you don't understand how two signatures work. With two signatures, one of them can't be the person the check is written to. It works and is a very simple solution. I've been involved in numerous organizations that used it.

I know that every member of my fire department's board is a hose jockey and two signatures don't mean a **** when they are butt buddies. I couldn't say about others.

Have you even bothered to check to see who is on the boards? And two signatures works. They also need annual audits, but it's less of an issue with dual accountability

Hello

Thank you new poster.

Shucks he is a fish. He lives in the water not the woods. His shadow of a fishsdick, the one called underdog well he lives in the woods as would most repulsive mutts.

I am confused. What is a hose jockey? I looked it up on google and could not find it.
Is that what you call a fireman? A hose jockey? Huh
What do you call police? Donut jockey's?
or is it jockies? Freaking English grammar
I thought that was funny for only eating one shroom so far this morning

Hope everyone has a great day!!

I don't know what neck of the woods you live in but where I live there are no non hose jockies on any of the boards. Like I said fox garding the hen house.

No, two unrelated signatures work. The other thing is don't let a hose jockey be treasurer. Make a non hose jockey board member have to be treasurer.

Shucks, I agree that hard work is an admirable and worthy thing. BUT the times, well they are "a' CHANGING". Too few can afford to pay for a roof over their heads and food for the youngsters. A small handful have more than they could spend in 200 lifetimes.

When wealth accumulates in such an uneven way, things tend to get ugly.

And Sonny, hard earned money is what this nation was built on - blood sweat and tears of your forefathers and the hard working folks that settled this county.

Yeah and that's the fox garding the hen house.

No it wouldn't because in the end, the frat house president writes the checks. If you want to prevent embezzlement all you have to do is require two sentences signatures on checks.

Believing that you have "hard earned money" is actually the #1 source of all evil, I think. Who "deserves" something is a strong #2.

Love your Nirvana reference mentalpause - I could almost hear Kurt painfully screaming those lyrics.
