There used to be federal funding that departments could qualify by doing so many checkpoints each year. Doing them as joint ventures with other agencies like the town or neighboring county or state agencies got extra money. I suspect that’s what is really going on.

The whole notion of the ACSO doing road block checks goes against the grain with me. I would imagine the ACSO has much better things to do than this. Leave this job to the NCHP.
My guess is that the new sheriff is wanting to show the voting public that he is "on the job". If the new sheriff wants to impress me, then get with the program on illegal drugs or something else more appropriate for the barney's time.

On GW they used to post the location of checkpoints when they were going on. Maybe we should start the same thing on GA. Warn people where the Barney’s are staked out.

I got stopped Thursday night at a traffic check. They were very polite, looked at my license and tag then waived me through, didn't take 5 minutes. First time I've been stopped in one in a year or so I think.

I sure wish he would crack down on the dangerous driving by his deputy's. Last night one made a right turn off of Windy hill on to 221 and he was either driving to fast to safely make the turn or wasn't paying attention as he came out in to the south bound lane. If I hadn't hit my brakes there's a very good chance we would have had an accident.

Smokey, if you aren’t familiar with the intricacies of Creston, I suggest you find a copy of this book and read it. Apparently ASU has a copy in their library

There are known troglodytes that have been seen over there also. Not to mention there are places they speak a different unknown language.

Creston is inhabited by mutants. Family trees reach to the heavens, never branching off except when animal species are involved in the breeding process. Makes Deliverance look like a Disney movie.
