Most of you would make Orwell proud. There once was an idea in America that cops weren’t supposed to hassle people that weren’t breaking the law. Checkpoints asking to see your papers was a Nazi thing. LEOs were civil servants intended to help the people that pay their salaries, not harass them in their daily activities. But over the last few decades we’ve militarized the nation’s police force. In an effort to fight imaginary threats, we have inflated the egos of the Barney’s and made them think they are more important than the citizens. They serve.

I knew dang well you didn;t live in that scary place with those scary people.

I live here full time. I lied. Not in Creston though.

It is a good thing that the goat lives in Creston. He can hide form the rest of the world and make believe that he is in charge of himself and all he surveys. I doubt that the Goat lives by God's laws either, they were quite numerous and required strict adherence and obedience to groups of people who were empowered to judge and punish.

I've only seen troopers at the few checkpoints I've been through. There was on a couple of weeks ago there was a Jefferson officer helping them. To be honest as long as I can remember I've never witnessed deputies at a checkpoint other than if they were actually searching for a subject.

It would be interesting to see the statistics of the 84 check points.

I personally dont have any complaints nor have I seen one of the check points. I did see a couple in out of the way places last summer but they were manned by the Johnny Troopers.

There has been a lot of noise on this site regarding illegal aliens, poor driving habits and the like, with the amount of roads in the county and the number of deputies available I think the checkpoints may be one of the more effective ways to enforce the traffic laws. Billy, I know you are an anarchist and don't feel that any law should apply to you and your enjoyment of the wide open spaces. all I can say is if you don't want to play by the rules don't get in the game. If you don't want to obey the traffic laws and other laws of the state and nation then don't use the public roads and don't visit other public spaces, Crawl back in that hole and pull the rock back over your head.
