OMG Homie, Lincoln did not own slaves. According to records he did at one time technically own A slave. But that was because he bought the boy out of ownership to return him to his mother in Illinois.

Dog, the flag you are referring to is the Confederate battle flag, the Republic was the other guys dolt. As for you others the war was about slavery. You can go on about states rights and all the other crap you dig up but the major point of contention was slavery. Plantation owners in the south east who had beggared the soil because of poor husbandry, wanted to migrate to Texas and take their slaves with them. The federal government said no so the secessionists got louder and uglier, then the federal government reinforced Fort Sumter and the South Carolina militia fired on the fort the rest is history. The war was all about slavery stop with sorry a... excuses already. As to the black Confederate troops they performed hard labor and were never armed as were the black Union troops.

Most people don't even take inconsideration that Lincoln himself owned slaves. They see him as a hero that wanted to end slavery. He did not though. The war wasn't mainly to end slavery. There was far more involved. No I'm not for slavery whatsoever. However facts are facts.

dog - my great grandfather signed up to fight on the same day as his 3 brothers. He survived (obviously- or no homie) but one of his brothers did not. Great grandpa has a beautiful gravesite with a truly beautiful stone paid for by the confederacy.
Still, even with that history of my own, I cannot imagine fighting a war to save a "way of life" that vitally includes enslaving other human beings. You?

Its not a rebel flag homie. Its the battle flag of the republic. Count the stars on it if either of you can. Then look at the confederate graveyards of the black soldiers are buried under the flag. Were you high in history class or you both just rewriting it to suit you both.
