You talk a big game, what's going on? What's the big secret? Who are these teachers?

benchwarmer99

Posted 2:43 pm, 07/24/2014

Believe me we have teachers over at the high school who shouldn't be teachers. I can't stand for a teacher to not care about a student whether she or he succeeds or not...I agree the student has to pull his or her weight but, some of the things going on are ridiculous. Some teachers are just plain lazy!!!

Good food for thought only. Teachers, principles, students, and blanch take note.

I always told my kids that their job was to go to school and try to learn as much as they could, I'd support them financially and emotionally through the process. If I heard the lame story that Ms. Pxxxy is mean, I'd say it is not her job to make you happy but to educate you, if you do the work assigned the best you can and ask for help when you have trouble you'll be OK.

I was not a stranger in the schools either, the principals and the teachers, School Board members and Head Shed employees knew who I was and who my kids were, they understood that I would hold up my end of the education bargain, but I expected them to work on their side too.

There are only about 3,000 kinds in the Ashe County School System, there is enough money in the system for each of those kids to get a quality education in a safe environment.

We just need to do our part and insist that the system do its part.

What these kids probably really encountered was some teachers who had standards and rules. Something that most of them never got from their mothers and fathers who never took the time or effort to be parents. They lost interest when the screwing was over.

Blanch just because one teenager told you that a mean old teacher ran them out of school does not constitute the reasons the other millions dropped out.

Using Blanch's flawed information gathering process, I suppose we could take a poll of the prisoners in the City, County, and State lockups and find out what percentage of them had been falsely accused and arrested and imprisoned. Blanch sometimes you are the big door prize here at GoAshe.

doggie where did you get your info from a comic book? You morons are so wrong and as I said ask the teens. I have talked to a few and even the smart ones will tell you they hate their classes because they are so boring. You have no facts in what you are saying...try again..

Here are the top reasons for high school dropout. Notice who was right on Que and where is our resident educators answer?

Lack of parent engagementPoor academic performanceWork/Family economic needsLack of a supportive adultDisconnect between school academics and workNot enough individualized attentionLow student engagement

Blanch, in the first place you are wrong as wrong can be. Maybe the kids will tell you that the teachers are mean. Bullshirt! What they are telling you is the teacher issued a low grade because the kid didn't earn a good grade. The teacher required homework to be done on time. The teacher required them to be in their assigned seats and quiet when the class started. And, here is some free information you may find handy---find a dictionary and look up the difference between the words advice and advise. I advise you to heed my advice, sweetie.

Blanch that is by far the most stupid thing you have ever said. Funny for the last 40 years teachers and students are banging each other and getting married.

Let's blame everyone else except the kid or their parents. Lord forbid if we hold them accountable for their own actions. You are the moron. If you have kids, I feel sorry for them.

benchwarmer99

You morons need to take an intelligence boosting drug...Most teens quit because of the teachers in high school..Some are so mean to these kids and could care less whether they graduate or not!!! And...their classes are so boring that no one enjoys their classes at all....so my advise is for you to ask some of these teens and they will tell you the truth why they quit school....I firmly believe that classes should be educational and FUN.

There was a time when a kid could quit school and join the military. There he could learn a trade and learn some self respect and become a functioning member of our world. I am pretty sure that all branches of the service require a high school diploma or a ged. They screw themselves by not at least getting a high school diploma. And I agree that the parents need to be parents not just baby makers.

I don't think Blanch can spell GED

secretagent

Posted 9:16 pm, 07/23/2014

Come on Blanch. Share all your high toned bullshirt opinion about it. The blame lays right at the feet of the dropout's family. Once dropped out, their only hope is to get a GED to be anything at all. Unfortunately, most of these uneducated loser think that GED has something to do with "Git 'er done" or some such underachieving witticism. Come on Blanch, tell us.

They drop out because they can. Their parents could care less in most cases. It isn't that they need to get out so they can get job and help support the family. The parents, and likely the parents before them just dropped out before graduation and were stuck in menial mill jobs and such. But now, the mill are gone. While they are young they can climb trees with a chain saw or something, but will never be able to run a business of their own. They have been raised to believe that they don't have to care about themselves, anyone, or anything. Losers beget losers, as you may have noticed that I said before. Now Blanch, please share your educated view from above on the subject. And, if I were to ask them why they did it, if they were being honest they would say that they did it because no one at home tried to stop them.
