Let me begin by saying... I'm sorry 
I don't have much of a choice, though.
Most of you will recall that I set up a sticky square ad to stay on the right side of the screen at the beginning of the year. A lot of people complained that it was annoying, but after awhile they got over it.
The issue is that Google demanded that we remove their ads from the Guns / Hunting section of the classifieds and the Personals. These are both very high traffic sections of the site, and removing ads from them cost us a LOT of money! So the sticky ad was an attempt to recoup that money and continue to pay the bills.
It recently came to my attention that the square sticky ad had been removed in mid-May. I didn't even notice, until last night when I saw that our revenue had gone way, way down.
After talking with my rep, I learned that the placement there wasn't allowed because it overlapped other ads. No one had told me that before, but... now, my options are a sticky horizontal ad at the bottom of the page, at the top of the page, or a square one on the left.
This placement seems to be the least intrusive, so I'm really hoping that we'll all get used to it and it won't be so annoying in a few days.
