Tell the commissioners to appoint an honest and competent sheriff this time

Well Timmy, anyone that finds their self being investigated and charged by the SBI should worry about their batting record. They don’t like to lose. Like the FBI, who set their example, they don’t take on fights they don’t already know the results for. If they find enough reason to go to the grand jury, then the defendant has already lost. And to make matters worse for Bufurt, his attorney is small time. He specializes in stuff like traffic crimes and divorce cases. He knows he can’t win and is out of his league, but is taking Bufurt’s money like a time square wh*re.

Bufurt should worry about the SBI batting record. An indictment by them usually is a message to invest in Anal Ease.

One of the commissioners that has been shown to have common sense, and always looks out for the citizens of Ashe had an interesting thought this morning. Appoint someone that will promise not to run for office in the next election. That way you are not giving someone the benefit of incumbency. Then he said, that of course there were three commissioners that he was sure had their own self serving ideas.

Clayton is not eligible to be appointed sheriff. He has not resided in the County for a year.

§ 162-5 If any vacancy occurs in the office of sheriff, the coroner of the county shall execute all process directed to the sheriff until the first meeting of the county commissioners next succeeding such vacancy, when the board shall elect a sheriff to supply the vacancy for the residue of the term, who shall possess the same qualifications, enter into the same bond, and be subject to removal, as the sheriff regularly elected.

§ 162-2. Disqualifications for the office. No person shall be eligible for the office of sheriff who is not of the age of 21 years, or has not resided in the county in which he is chosen for one year immediately preceding his election. No person shall engage in the practice of law or serve as a member of the General Assembly while serving as sheriff.
