Personally I know nothing about OCM.

And yet none of you have ever contributed to the site. Your only contribution has been to bash, troll, or generally disrupt the site only on occasion. You claim to be highly educated persons yet you continue to act like your are still in romper room first grade.

Just a foot note, go back and do your homework. You may notice that two of us have been attacked by a poster first.

I cant help but notice that you people have a soft place for the ocm. Do you know why he doesnt post any longer? Or are you just using him as blame?

This is the large problem in the United States, and isn't limited to this forum. People today do not want to have a discussion with those who have opposing views.

That's why we have college kids playing with play doh, skipping mid terms, and petting dogs and cats rather than learning because they are so fragile they can't accept that someone of an opposing viewpoint won. These are the future workers, teachers, leaders of our country and they can't handle a viewpoint that is opposite their own. We are headed for disaster, not just in the next decade but the next twenty to forty years.

The right and left both ridicule anyone who doesn't agree with their viewpoint. The vast majority of Americans do not lean far right or far left, and to avoid ridicule they just don't participate usually. Unless we can rekindle the exchange of ideas and agreeing to disagree with people our country is headed for collapse within most of our lifetimes. Nothing would please Russia or China more than to see the United States dissolve as the USSR once did. We are stronger together than we are apart.

Everyone should be able to state their opinion without being assaulted by juvenile posters who can do no better than resort to name calling. If you think the rest of the internet is so good, go there and stay there. There are places for ladies and gentlemen, friends and neighbors, to have reasonable discussions, and places for people to act ignorant and show their a**es. This site was originally intended to be a place of discussion for reasonable people. It is a shame that two people think they can hijack it for their own amusement.

If fishgirl is a tenured professor, then it says a lot about how bad of a state our university system is in. She clearly holds no real world or practical knowledge. She never impressed anyone. OCM is intelligent, but he's clearly a life long bureaucrat. His first instinct is to protect the red tape. Also, he got schooled a few times on things like water and sewer systems by someone that clearly had hands on knowledge in those fields. But, still, he has valid contributions, and he's smart enough to know that. As for FairPlay, off the top of my head, I don't remember him getting much flak. I was thinking his input was pretty much taken as having a value. But that said, I'm trying to figure out why you think graduating Watauga High provides some special consideration. Either way, if all three have the credentials suggested, then they also have the experience to know what the real Internet is like when visiting forums and op ed based sites. And if that's the case, they should know how to hold their own instead of running and crying in the corner.

What I'm really seeing is that pennyannie here is pissed that he couldn't hold his own. If he ever found what forums are like on the rest of the Internet, he would wet himself and hide in the closet.

This site isn't just for a couple, it's for all to enjoy...

Exactly coincollector, if they want to continue with their childish behavior then why don't they start a forum of their own. That way they can run it however they choose.....Be the internet God's they think they are...

A lot of smart people like Old City Manager(OCM), Fairplay, Foxyfishergrl or something like that all got tired of the yelling and trolling. Every time Fishergrl posted something, underdog had to make some stupid sexist remark about something that had nothing to do with what she posted. She is a tenured Professor at a University, and without a doubt one of the smarter people that was on here. OCM could figure out more about the budget every year than the Board of Commissioners. He probably got tired of being told he was wrong by the two mouthy ones. Fairplay graduated from high school in Watauga about 30 years ago and is nationally recognized in his field, but probably got tired of being called names by the two mouthy idiots. Good riddance to both of the mouthy ones. I hope they stay gone.

Yeah I don't know why they think everyone should bow down to them, this is a open forum where anyone can express their opinion. It should be informative as well as entertaining for all....

atleast 1 of the 2 is trying the same thing on gowilkes, but there are alot more posters on there and some are sturn fast

Yeah I have heard rumors they have ran a lot of the posters off. Maybe not so much from the site, but with their constant name calling and trolling they have discouraged people from posting...Hopefully they will return and begin posting again, since the two you mention have been called out on their behavior. IMO let the good times roll, a couple of bad apples don't ruin the whole bushel...

Wake up Ashe residents, surely you have something on your mind for discussion or just general rag chewing or bs'ing about. Don't be put off by a few on here that think they run the show. This is your forum as well as theirs, so get to posting. Don't become a stick in the mud!!!!
