What did you eat?

Alrighty then, fins does NOT like curry even a little bit! Everyone got that! Don't serve curry to fins under any circumstances. Sheesh...

I assume naan is still ok in your book (since it's bread after all).

I already gave one answer. It doesn't include curry. But you tried to get all pissy over that

Fins you're stubborn as a rock. I've given several examples of restaurants and food I enjoy. I'm clearly not a snob but I am well informed. I travel a lot and do quite a bit of research on the restaurants I eat at - outside of the Michelin guide.

Since we were talking about expensive places, yeah a three star Michelin is going to cost a bit. You were bragging about your fine dining experiences so I tried to put it in context. And yet, I still have no idea what you consider a great meal.

I've kept an eye on Michelin updates. It's still a limited source for limited markets. And the fact you used it as your go to reference to start a pissing contest says everything. But nice try. It would have impressed 99% of ashe locals.

Michelin has changed in recent years to include recommendations for other markets and more downscale restaurants. Check it out.

I don't rely on it at all. As I said I have had some really great meals at very non Michelin rated places. One I remember fondly was in Laos where I had a fresh caught fired river fish while sitting on a plastic chair outside. I watched a naked baby run around on the mud street in front of me. I think it cost $2.00. I just like good food, wherever. It's not a pissing contest.

I know how Michelin claims it works. I also know how it works. And the fact they only rate places in limited markets also proves its lack of real value. But you keep depending on it.

Fins, it's all about FOOD! Michelin is anonymous - no restaurant knows when they dine there. They have to be consistently good or they get no stars.

And no, I don't pick them that way. I've had many a fabulous meal at a night market in Asia that costs pennies on the dollar. I know a lot about good food and wine and I still don't know what you consider to be great food?

The Michelin guide is absolutely about status. If that's the way you pick them, it's not about food.

Fins, it's not about status, it's about a great meal. I'm not a snob, I just like good food apparently like you but maybe we like different food.

Where have you had your best meal? For me it was Le Bernadin in NYC. I
Like seafood and they do it great. If you tell me The Peddler in Boone, I know more what I am dealing with.

The Michelin guide is a joke because it only covers limited areas. People that live buy it prove they are more interested in status than actual food.

jack - ick!

And on a "what did you eat?" thread... I m not a puritanical person but that's just yucky.

Strategically placed it would spin the ziz wheel.

Fins, just how many Michelin starred restaurants have you dined at? I've actually been to a few (here and abroad).

I don't know the rat man but if you are fooling around with women who would be happy to see a wart on your "member", I think you are keeping some odd companions as well.

You keep some weird company girly. I bet you are friends with the rat man too. Ask your witch buddy if she can give me a wart on my member. I know for a fact that the concubines would love it.

My friend's family has been Wiccan going back generations. She was born into it and grew up with it just like people around here who grow up being Baptist. She's actually one of the more intelligent people I have known.

Although I don't agree with her beliefs, I respect them. Plus it's the only religion I know of where you get to run around naked (skyclad) in the woods!

Your friend is a moroon. And I'm sure you can afford to eat wherever YOU want. Just not where I want.

Hikingmom - that's sad! Genes are important too and I am lucky to come from a family full of long livers. My grandparents were 99 and 97 when they died. Of course you have to take care of yourself which I'm not always good at.

Onlyinashe, I have a Wiccan friend who would strongly disagree. She believes that you do indeed pick your parents.

And fins - how the heck do you know what I can afford? I used to work in a job where I regularly entertained clients & I think the most expensive single meal came in around $20k but that included a bunch of fancy wines and quite a few people. My company paid the tab then but I assure you I can afford to eat whatever and wherever I want.
