I have to admit those two are hard to read.

I hate to say this but I think the rescue squad should have spent that money on getting you boys at least a 6th grade education in grammar and sentence structure.

Will for what it's worth we had to go to wilco to fuel up and we had to run to Walmart to pic up the kids some things for school and we seen a few of the squad members out using the tower that they paid over 40,000 thousand for instead of waiting on the county for the trading ground .
If they would train more on running some calls instead of depending on all the other departments the coumminty would be better off all the sick would be taken care of its really a sham that the county's back up system has failed I remember when it was led by some good honest people and there was never any social meadia in the papers or on line that anyone ever screen or read about the squad never had problems like we see and read about now .
We hear that the captain like watching the ball games and want pull his truck from the games to help someone that need a ambulance that he is sitting in I know I seen him in it at the games.
Not sure who all you people are but u need to start finding some good honest people that can run your service before it folds someone that can put it back like it was when it started and they cared about the community.

So I don't think they figured out on there shifts , Did anyone listen to there scanners last night after the Squad finally go a truck going to that fire in that house last night that woman screaming for a law officers to come quick that was so funny.
They are trying to run every I hear a call for a ambulance they send the Squad and nobody goes they say at more ball games than running call .
I have heard so many things over the last year the county need to step up and enforce all fire departments go rescue and leave them in west Jefferson .Does anyone know if the sameones are still chief and luetintent are still over it if they can be fired and put people in that can run it the one there can't run a candy shop
They leave it to the other dept to run there call unless it a pin in and the CHEIF want his picture glory put in the papers just listen to you scanner like we do watch you clock and how long it takes them this is why I'm not sending money when they sent out us there letter for money I give it to our fire dept

They need to learn how to assign shifts for the volunteers to be at the station. Get ready for fully paid fire departments. I have been predicting this for years.

If you can’t fulfill the commitments that you agree to when joining an emergency response squad, then don’t join. Contrary to the public opinion, it’s not just a fraternity

You keep talkin about people not running ambulance calls. What about the Fire, First Responder or Helton Ambulance calls? You must have forgotten about them. Are you just have selective hearing. All the department in Ashe County are volunteer. Most people who are on a department either work full-time or part-time job. I'm sure some have to do both to support their families. Most employers will not let them leave work to run any calls.

I'm sure any Department in Ashe County would love to have more volunteers that were free to run calls during the day. So if your free and would like to help out the local departments please contact them and get to helping people in need.

And the other board can stop the tax money if the bandaid squad is not answering calls when they are needed most.

I know what your post was about. But the board could fire volunteers if they arent responding to calls.

I understand that Fins, my post was aimed more at the firing for not responding comment.

An organization can fire volunteers. They don’t have to let anyone and everyone join. Just like they have minimum education and other training requirements that members must meet, they can choose to kick anyone out for pretty much any reason they want, as long as it’s not discriminatory.

Joe T, how do you fire volunteers? if i'm not mistaken being volunteers, when toned out they have no legal duty to respond if they choose not to. But once they do respond they are then legally bound to take action within the scope of their training.

Yep Fins we really have been giving this gang a pass. There have been posts on GA prior to the primary of missing money at the bandaid club. And the chief of this outfit even ran for commissioner and he was at the center of the controversy.

Notice how quiet that honor club got after we called out their cheating ways?

It’s just another frat house. I realize now we have made a gross error in negligence by ignoring the rescue squad all these years and not placing them under the microscope of our investigations. While we have kept pressure on the Barney’s, hose jockeys, and the Gages and DeSotos, we have let the volunteer band aid dispensers fly freely under the radar. It’s time we change that. And we start by demanding a forensic audit of their budget.

There have been numerous complaints about them failing to respond to calls.

Want to see a real mess take a look at Patrick County VA.

Its the government way we have to spend this amount of money so we can ask for more. And if what is posted is true about them not responding when needed then everyone on duty at that time needs to be fired

It is really amazing to me that after reading this and I drove by to see for myself and yes it's there , they are wasting money for this our donations that we give because we just got another donation letter in the mail wanting money.
The thing that makes me upset is that the County just passed the money for the County's Training Center that they will be building one on bigger and better for every Fire and Rescue Department to use and here they are wasting this money.
In the Donation letter we got it states these standbys they do but they won't run the calls to help the Fire Standbys or to help the people that are sick or needs help getting up that have fallen come on get real they need there priorities put in order by some leaders than what's there now it's a disgrace for our county the letter has Captains name at the bottom it's time you and your leaders stop wasting money or get out
While eating with the breakfast group a couple days ago one of the men from a Department said the Rescue Squad received a call for a stroke in Crumpler because all the County's Ambulances were busy and the Squad was working on this tower and none of them stopped working on it to run that call and Warrensville ended up running it some people drove by and witness it .
To those of the public would withhold my money's until the one that are over seeing that Department are ocused it County Funded it time our County leaders look are all there spendings and audit them .

Take a look at all of the OSHA violations. Doesn't the Rescue Squad believe in safety?

If donated money paid for this have at it. If this was paid for by the County, what a waste of resources. Another County entity, Ashe County Board of Education, has a tower on their property, the tower may be owned by the DOD or the National Guard, I'm not sure. Sharing training resources is a great way to save resources, such as facilities and instructors. The funds used to build this wall might have been spent to enhance the JROTC tower. With the proper cooperative agreement all persons who desired to be certified and maintain certification in vertical and or rope rescue could have been served without duplication or resources.

In this area it makes sense to have folks trained in vertical or rope rescue, hiking trails, mines and wells all present ample opportunity for accidents and the need for this type of rescue.
